Zeta, a Next-Gen Banking Tech company founded in 2015, is seeking a Head of Finance and Financial Control to join its UK executive leadership team. This critical role reports directly to the CEO and will be responsible for establishing and driving operational success for FCA-regulated consumer credit card lenders, Authorised Payment Institutions, and E-Money providers. The responsibilities include building and developing the finance team, designing financial policies and internal controls, selecting and configuring accounting software, establishing financial reporting structures, overseeing cash flow management and settlement, leading budgeting and forecasting, managing statutory reporting and compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS, and overseeing the audit process. The role also involves ensuring compliance with FCA regulations, maintaining internal controls, and overseeing debt financing and securitization for clients.

About the Role
The Director of Finance will be a member of the UK executive leadership team supporting FCA-regulated consumer credit card lenders, Authorised Payment Institutions and EMoney providers. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is critical in establishing and driving the operational success.
1. Finance Team Establishment
- Build and develop the finance team, ensuring recruitment of high-calibre talent to support business objectives.
- Design and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls suitable for a start-up environment.
2. Accounting and Software Configuration
- Select and configure the general ledger and accounting software to meet business needs.
- Establish robust financial reporting structures to support accurate and timely decision-making.
3. Financial Control and Treasury
- Oversee cash flow management and settlement and ensure adequate liquidity to support operational and strategic goals.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to drive informed decision-making.
- Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Oversight, reconciliation and management of safeguarding account.
4. Statutory Reporting and Compliance
- Ensure accurate preparation and submission of statutory accounts in compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS.
- Oversee reconciliation reporting processes to maintain financial accuracy and transparency.
- Manage the audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors and ensuring timely resolution of findings.
5. Governance and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FCA regulations, particularly around financial reporting and risk management.
- Maintain and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain regulatory standards.
6. Debt financing
- Oversee securitisation and debt financing for clients where required
- Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably within a start-up or fast-growth, FCA-regulated financial services environment.
- Preferable to have experience with Consumer credit, API (Authorised payment institution) or E-Money requirements such as safeguarding and client funds reconciliation.
- Proven expertise in establishing financial processes, configuring accounting systems, and building teams from scratch.
- Strong knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements and UK financial reporting standards.
- Experience managing audits and reconciliation processes.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at board level.
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Familiarity with FCA regulations, UK GAAP/IFRS, and start-up operations.
- Familiarity with balance sheet financing.
