The Head of Project Management (PMO) will be responsible for building and leading the project management function, ensuring efficient project execution. The role requires close collaboration with various departments and a focus on accountability and transparency. The ideal candidate should have a strong project management background and experience in building or scaling a PMO function.
Must have:

JOB OVERVIEW

Plan A Technologies is looking for an experienced Head of Project Management (PMO) to build, lead, and scale our project management function. This strategic role is responsible for establishing the PMO from the ground up, aligning resources to business priorities, and ensuring that all cross-functional projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be the central driver of execution excellence across the organization, developing systems and processes that provide visibility, clarity, and accountability on initiatives that support the company’s growth. We are looking for a rising project management star with enough experience to build a key group within our organization and support our efforts to scale our business significantly. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who thinks like an engineer, solving challenges on a daily basis. Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience in project management or PMO leadership roles to be considered for this role.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and lead the PMO team, including hiring and managing project managers, business analysts, and other roles as needed.

  • Assess current and future resource needs across all company projects and recommend appropriate staffing and allocation of resources.

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs, and schedules to ensure on-time delivery of critical milestones.

  • Own and improve resource allocation planning across multiple projects to optimize team efficiency.

  • Run project kickoffs, stand-ups, steering committees, and cross-functional meetings with discipline and rigor.

  • Develop an intake process for new project requests, including the documentation and scoping necessary to evaluate cost, benefit, and timeline.

  • Provide consolidated reporting and dashboards to the executive team, summarizing status, risks, and upcoming deliverables across the project portfolio.

  • Ensure consistent project methodology and tools are used across all initiatives, enabling repeatable success.

  • Partner closely with leaders in engineering, product, marketing, operations, and finance to align roadmaps and expectations.

  • Document and lead optimization of existing business processes.

  • Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and momentum toward shared company goals.


EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in project management or PMO leadership roles, preferably within a SaaS, technology, or startup environment.

  • Proven success in building or scaling a PMO function from scratch.

  • Strong experience in resource planning, project governance, and executive reporting.

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing cross-functional teams and large project portfolios.

  • Deep understanding of project lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.).

  • Proficiency in PM tools such as Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, or MS Project.

  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.

  • Strong sense of ownership with a bias for action and results orientation.

  • Friendly demeanor & & “can-do” attitude – we are looking for self-starters.

  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar project management certification(s).

  • Prior experience in a high-growth or private equity-backed company.

  • Experience implementing project intake and governance frameworks.

  • Background in business analysis or product management, with the ability to define and evaluate business cases.

  • Strong executive presence with comfort in presenting to senior leadership and stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with the gaming, hospitality, or entertainment industry is a plus.

  • Have solid written and verbal English skills.

  • Initiative and drive to do great things.
