Job Description

The In-House Production Manager will work directly with the Senior Director of Costumes, supporting the Costume Shop Manager, Show Support Managers, and Design teams. This pivotal role involves coordinating and communicating within the costume department and with other departments. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and executing tasks related to multiple productions, prioritizing projects, and ensuring they meet requirements on schedule. The manager will also step in to support during high-volume periods. Additional duties are assigned by the Department Manager.

  • Member of professional organizations related to costumes/entertainment
Must Have:
  • 10+ years of professional costuming experience
  • Strong costume construction knowledge and wardrobe experience
  • Experience supervising and managing 10+ people

Works directly with the Senior Director of Costumes and supports the Costume Shop Manager, Show Support Managers and Design teams.  Is a pivotal member of the day to day operation of the costume department and is the main liaison between all key functions in the costume department and with other departments in the company.


Essential Functions
  • Is responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Costumes with the overall coordination and communication of the Costume Department.
  • Carries out responsibilities including planning, coordinating, directing and executing tasks as assigned, specifically related to multiple productions and projects and keeping all on schedule and within defined parameters.  Responsible for prioritizing projects and meeting all existing and new show requirements in a timely and effective manner. 
  • Able to step into roles in the costume department to provide support during high volume periods for relief of extended work periods, vacations and other out of shop needs as necessary.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Department Manager.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of professional level large scale costuming experience
  • Variety of design genres including theatrical, commercial, photo, large scale, corporate
  • Member of professional organizations related to costumes/entertainment a plus


Skills & Abilities
  • Must possess strong costume construction knowledge, wardrobe experience and some costume design skills.
  •  
  • Ability to provide logical solutions to complex problems and to interpret a variety of requests or instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to effectively present information to managers and employees. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, specifications, codes and procedural manuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds. 
  • Ability to promote professional customer service skills including appearance and interaction with all contacts inside and outside of the company. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years supervising and managing 10 people or more.
