As an Instrument Systems Design Engineer, you will be in charge of designing, setting up, validating, and deploying automated instrumentation for calibrating and testing Apple's products during New Product Introduction (NPI) and mass production. Your responsibilities will be tailored to your technical background, and may include architecting instrumentation systems, including hardware specifications, and maintaining them throughout production. You will collaborate with mechanical engineering to specify and validate mechanical fixtures and automation systems. Furthermore, you will develop and optimize automation software, implement audio processing and Machine Learning algorithms for evaluating acoustic performance, and analyze data from instrument systems to solve engineering challenges. You will also conduct failure mode root cause analysis, working from the system level to the component level, and collaborate with various teams within Apple, including Acoustics/N&V, system EE, product design, firmware, operations, and logistics. Frequent interactions with contract manufacturers/vendors are expected, including developing SOPs, debug instructions, and documentation.
