Intermediate UI Artist

Snowed in Studios is a game development studio based in Ottawa, Canada. As part of Keywords Studios’ Create service line, we provide programming, art and design support to some of the most important and exciting games being made today. We are currently looking add Intermediate User Interface Artists to our already amazing team. As a “Snowmie” artist, you will use your creative skills to help our client studios to bring their games to realization. 

You will use your passion for games, insatiable curiosity, and versatility to work on a variety of projects and across all aspects of game development. In return, you will be part of a creative and supportive team environment with the ability to have a direct impact on the development of top-tier games. 

Are you up for the challenge? 

Some of the cool stuff you’ll be doing: 

• Working closely with client studios to bring their games to realization 
• Work with UX designers to supplement designs and create beautiful art assets to specification 
• Format, optimize and export assets for integration 
• Work with designers and developers in engine to implement UI screens and components accurately 
• Collaborating with stakeholders to realize and iterate on visual development of interfaces, assets and marketing art 
• Building a solid relationship with your game development peers in-house and around the world 
• Supporting your team mates to accomplish goals 

What you’ll bring to the table: 

• 2+ years professional experience in game UI or interactive graphic design.   
• Ability to match and work in multiple art styles 
• Portfolio of relevant work experience showcasing a variety of art styles 
• Strong knowledge of industry-standard vector art, design and collaboration software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After effects, XD), Figma, Miro, etc. 
• Experience with game engines such as Unity 3D and Unreal Engine 
• Advanced UI graphics skills and strong understanding of the art and design fundamentals (colour theory, layout, padding etc.) 
• Understanding of edge cases, and knock-on effects and development cost of design ideas 
• Problem-solving skills 
• College diploma or bachelor's degree in interactive design, graphic design, game development or equivalent experience 

Bonus points! 

• UX design skills 
• Experience with scripts and/or Unreal blueprints  
• Motion design and animation experience  
• VFX experience 
• Shipped game(s) 
• Experience working directly with external clients

• Salary Range: $75,000 to $85,000
