What You’ll Learn

• Project Overview:
  • Architecture-software co-design for CXL-based general-purpose compute or AI devices 
• Skills You'll Learn:
  • Latest CXL technology
  • Existing compute-enabled storage devices and efforts to simulate CXL environments at Samsung
  • System-level and workload-level analysis on AI or big data processing systems
  • Device HW and software architecture design 

What You’ll Do

• Understand the impact of CXL on programming / memory model such as CUDA and OpenCL, communication and device HW architecture.
• Identify required device HW resources for various AI applications including CNN, LLM training / inferencing, recommendation models and etc.
• Design and evaluate the device HW architecture and software that can possibly improve the current architecture. 

Location: Working onsite at our San Jose office at least 3 days per week on Monday - Wednesday, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time

Reports to: Director

• Design AI inference system with data compression
• Build AI inference system with device emulator
• Integrate data compression algorithm into AI inference system
• Measure performance of AI inference system
• Optimize performance of AI inference system
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring

• Currently in the penultimate year of a PhD degree or higher
• Experience with AI models, general-purpose GPU programming, or big data processing platforms such as Spark and Hadoop
• Understanding on operating systems and storage devices
