Job Description

Samsung Semiconductor seeks DRAM Applications interns to join their application engineering team in San Jose, CA. Interns will work with mentors providing technical support, handling customer/partner issues, joint validations, self-qualifications, and supporting local engineering teams. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting urgent problems, detecting potential issues, coordinating with R&D, and performing signal integrity (SI) and timing analysis. Interns will gain hands-on experience with Samsung memory products, focusing on memory validation, troubleshooting system failures, creating diagnostic tools, and performing DRAM SI/PI and timing analysis measurements. They will also develop updates, communicate findings, and collaborate with internal/external teams on test methodologies.
Must have:
  • Pursuing Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • Familiar with Unix/Linux
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment
  • Understanding of computer architecture principles

What You’ll Learn

  • Project Overview: Work with application engineer mentor with technical support, primarily handling technical issues from customers and partners, joint validations efforts, self-qualifications as well as supporting local customer engineering teams.
  • Skills You’ll Learn:
    • High Bandwidth oscilloscopes measuring signals in the GHz domain
    • DRAM communication protocol, utilizing logic analyzer to measure analyze timing analysis
    • SOC vendor CRB (Customer reference board) bring up/operation
    • Memory training, DRAM initiation etc.
    • Memory-related RAS features on latest generation SOCs

What You’ll Do
Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is looking for DRAM Applications interns to join our application engineering (AE) team in San Jose, CA. Interns would be responsible on working with their application engineer mentor with technical support, primarily handling technical issues from customers and partners, joint validations efforts, self-qualifications as well as supporting local customer engineering teams. Key emphasis will be on troubleshooting urgent problems, the detection of potential issues during the early stage of a product and the coordination with internal R&D teams. These positions will get the candidate in-depth, hands-on experience with Samsung memory products including signal integrity (SI) and timing analysis measurements.

Location: Onsite at our Headquarters in San Jose 5 days a week 

  • Partner effectively with key customers on memory validation and technical troubleshooting to diagnose root cause of system memory failures.
  • Proactively create experiments and tooling to detect and diagnose memory health issues.
  • Perform DRAM SI/PI and timing analysis measurements.
  • Develop and publish updates on resolutions and communicate findings internally.
  • Drive necessary discussions with external and internal teams on test specification and methodologies to improve test quality continuously.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Pursuing Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering required.
  • Must have at least 1 academic quarter/semester remaining
  • Familiar with Unix/Linux Operation systems and scripting languages
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment including digital multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply, logic analyzer
  • Understanding of fundamental computer architecture principles. Pipeline, Multicore etc.
  • Strong communication skills

Hourly Base Pay Rate

$28 - $62 USD
