We are looking for a student who can do the internship (for 12 months) between Aug 2025 - Aug 2026. (flexible start dates to suit university terms)

As a placement student within the mixed signal IC development group at NXP Semiconductors, you will work alongside and under the guidance of our engineers to help us to develop our vehicle access ICs for the automotive market.

Your responsibilities

Your role will include, but not be limited to, some of the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Learn how to use and become proficient with our complex IC design tools.

  • Perform analogue and/or digital design and simulation tasks.

  • Develop software in C#, C and assembler to test our devices.

  • Perform bench validation and characterisation work.

  • Design and assembly of test equipment to support our IC validation activities.

  • Document your results and write specifications and reports.

Your Profile

The successful candidate will have:-

  • Presently undertaking an undergraduate ( BSc, BEng or MEng ) degree in Electronic Engineering or closely related subject that covers analogue or digital circuit design.

  • Expected minimum 2:1 degree in Electronic Engineering or closely related subject.

  • Experience of designing building and testing electronic circuits.

  • Experience of software development in C, C# or similar language.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills (English language).

  • A diligent, self-motivated, attitude with excellent attention to detail and be a “completer finisher” type.

The following skills will also be beneficial :

  • Experience of the Linux operating system and scripting languages.

  • Experience of designing with Verilog (or VHDL).

  • Experience in the use of an analogue simulation tool.

  • Experience in the use of FPGA design tools.
