Job Description

This role involves contributing to the development and maintenance of FX sales platforms for a global financial institution. Responsibilities include technical design, coding, code review, collaboration with various teams (dealers, engineers, analysts, testers), implementing continuous delivery practices, building innovative solutions to improve electronic flow and reduce manual intervention, utilizing tools for efficient development and deployment, and contributing to a positive engineering culture. The ideal candidate will have strong Java and ReactJS skills, experience in developing scalable and supportable solutions, and a passion for building high-quality software.

Project description

Our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive and to achieve this, we need talented Engineers to join our FX Sales Technology Squad. The squad is responsible for FX platforms that support our sales Dealers across the globe. This includes all customer segments, Investor, Institutional, and Commercial.

As an experienced Senior Engineer, you will be involved in developing both breadth and depth. We want great engineers, and we will foster our people's talent by giving opportunities to work on things that develop both your deep technical expertise, as well as your broad end-to-end understanding.

Responsibilities

Contributing to technical design, coding, and conducting code review

Works with dealers, java engineers, analysts, and testers to deliver state-of-the-art bespoke sales desktop platform

Enables continuous delivery practices to increase delivery speed

Works in collaborative teams to build innovative solutions that can improve electronic flow and reduce manual intervention.

Utilises tools and practices to build, verify, and deploy solutions in the most efficient ways, enhancing tech division capabilities

Implements a culture within the Tribe and the Chapter, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality, prioritization and documentation

Contributes to Engineering communities, meetups, and conferences to promote technology development culture and practices

Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management

Creates estimates and continuously reviews demand within the individual Squads/teams

Create/enhance, understand, and monitor application metrics

Skills

Must have

Overall, 6+ years of experience are required in Java and React

Have a thirst and willingness to expand knowledge with new technologies bringing benefits to the Tribe

Ability to triage and diagnose defects/issues

Experienced working with operations and architecture groups developing scalable and supportable solutions (desired but not mandatory)

Understand customer needs to make sound judgments

Pays attention to detail and demonstrates problem-solving capability to develop and deliver quality solutions

Understanding of the current state landscape and relevant technologies

Has a broad understanding of how to apply New Ways of Working to their role

Strong core Java 11+ version

React JS

CSS

Docker/Container technologies

Multi/N-threaded programming

Domain-driven design, functional programming, and micro-services

Shell/Bash scripting

Passionate, self-starter with the ability to work on problems from inception to completion

Strong communication skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to collaborate within the FX Sales Technology team, the wider FX technology squads, support, and sales stakeholders

Strong academic background, preferably in computer science or a hard-science

Nice to have

Experience in the Banking domain

Excellent oral and written communication skills
