The Java Software Engineer will work on the existing WMX platform, build index/benchmark product capabilities, and production processes. The role involves collaborating with various teams to create innovative technical solutions, aligning delivery with business expectations, coaching junior engineers, and taking initiative to develop knowledge in technology products and tools. This role will also involve producing clean and efficient code, reviewing others' code, and understanding the tech strategy and culture. The Java Software Engineer should have experience in software development and delivery, with knowledge of Java, database knowledge, and AWS cloud architecture. They will also be responsible for automation to streamline operational processes and improve efficiency. The candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Description Summary

Working on the existing WMX platform and build outstanding index/benchmark product capabilities and production processes.

Collaborate with the product, research, partnerships, governance and policy, sales strategy, operations, marketing, and other teams to create innovative technical solutions for RBSL.

Work closely with the product delivery team to align delivery priority/timelines with business and client expectations

Coach and train junior software engineers in WMX team to grow into SMEs.

Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrates significant knowledge of a single or multiple technologies and advises on design, development and implementation
  • Advances tools and applications by producing clean and efficient code and reviews others' code when required
  • Handles own workload and promotes an inclusive and open culture
  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge and expertise in software development and is regarded as the SME in their domain. Develops knowledge of other domains to understand linkages and dependencies
  • Understands the tech strategy and culture, and how they impact own work as well as adjacent teams
  • Oversees the design work and planning for user journeys ensuring the achieve the desired objectives
  • Supports the creation of solutions for Epics and the associated implementation tasks
  • Adapts existing patterns to develop robust solutions
  • Develops understanding of LSEG's commercial direction and how technology is forming a part of this
  • Completes the delivery of given tasks with some guidance and oversight
  • Builds strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders, growing network and collaborating with own team and colleagues in other domains. Communicates complex information clearly to relevant audiences
  • Takes initiative to develop knowledge in technology products and tools through on the job learning, certifications and projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Professional qualification or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge of programming language: Java
  • Significant experience in relationship database knowledge, prefer on Postgres
  • Moderate experience of AWS cloud architecture and microservices architecture, with comprehensive understanding of cloud-based infrastructure
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience in a software development and delivery role
  • Moderate experience of multiple development technologies and knowledge of when patterns are appropriate and solutions are anti-patterns
  • Some experience of Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, delivery management, and / or Emerging Technology and Governance
  • Advocate for and implement automation to streamline operational processes, reduce manual effort, and improve efficiency
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective collaboration across functional teams
  • Some stakeholder management experience.
