Job Description

As a Junior Lighting Artist at Techland, you'll craft immersive game environments using lighting, day/night cycles, and weather effects to create unforgettable atmospheres. Responsibilities include lighting locations, collaborating with Art Directors and Lead Level Artists, ensuring visual coherence, optimizing lighting, contributing to lighting technology development, and participating in level design. You'll work with a proprietary C-Engine editor and create lighting for large outdoor open scenes, considering time of day and weather changes. The role requires strong artistic skills, excellent communication, and a passion for game development.

Job Description

As a Junior Lighting Artist, you will help to create amazing environments, which will be discovered and admired by our players. Using light, the day and night cycle and changing weather conditions, you will create the unforgettable atmosphere of locations, creating their mood and supporting gameplay.

Your daily tasks:

  • Creating lighting for locations and building the atmosphere with light in key scenes for the narration and playing in the full day and night cycle.
  • Working with the Art Director and the Lead Level Artist.
  • Lighting large outdoor open scenes, taking into account changes in the time of day and weather.
  • Taking care of the visual coherence of lighting throughout the whole game.
  • Ensuring lighting is optimal and technically correct.
  • Co–operation in the development of technology related to lighting in an open world game.
  • Taking part in creating ideas and plans for locations/levels.
  • Working with a proprietary C-Engine editor.
     

Qualifications

  • Artistic skills, including a good sense of color and composition.
  • Ability to communicate ideas verbally and with the aid of quick sketches/references.
  • Passion for creating games.
  • Proactivity and initiative to solve problems without waiting for detailed instructions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Determination and persistence when facing obstacles.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop your skills.
  • Very good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Good command of English.
  • Great teamwork skills.


Nice to have:

  • Experience in creating lighting art for video games.
  • Familiarity with architecture.
  • Good sense for searching and analyzing reference materials from games as well as the real world.
  • Familiarity with engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
