Job Description

As a Junior QA Analyst at Jagex, you'll be embedded within a game development team, testing content and providing qualitative feedback on game mechanics, design, and balancing. Responsibilities include learning test processes and applying test techniques; creating concise test cases; executing various tests (playtests); reporting bugs, feedback, and risks; investigating player bug reports; testing game content and reporting bugs; analyzing game content and providing objective feedback; identifying and escalating risks; and working within a Scrum team. A good understanding of video game structure and components is essential, along with basic knowledge of software or video game development processes and the QA function within development. You'll collaborate within a multi-discipline team, contributing to content development and testing, and learning tester responsibilities within Scrum ceremonies.

Description

As a Junior QA Analyst you will be embedded within a game development team where you will be testing content and giving qualitative feedback on game mechanics, design and balancing to push out the best possible content. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Learns test processes, and application of test techniques 
  • Create simple and concise test cases covering different game functionality 
  • Execute different test cases and testing activities (e.g. playtests) 
  • Report bugs, feedback, and risks, following team standards

- Investigate player bug reports and report on findings 

- Test game content and report identified bugs 

- Analyse game content and give objective feedback 

- Identify and escalate risks that could impact game quality or player satisfaction 

  • Work as part of a multi-discipline Scrum team developing and testing content and fixes 
  • Learns responsibilities of a tester within Scrum ceremonies 

What we're looking for:

  • Good understanding of video game structure and components e.g. UI, loading, inventory systems, multiplayer lobbies, balancing, narrative etc. 
  • Has basic knowledge of Software or Video Game development process, core roles involved in development, and primarily the function of QA within development 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, able to work in a team collaboratively 
  • Familiarity with PC operating systems and hardware, and basic knowledge of this for Mobile 
  • Enthusiasm and passion for learning new technologies, QA skills, and games development 
  • Software/Video Game-related degree or other qualifications are a plus, but not mandatory 
  • In-depth product (RS/OSRS) knowledge is a strong plus, but not mandatory
