Job Summary:

Summary: Do you want to be part of the daily newsgathering operation of a 24/7 newsroom? ABC News is looking for a Production Associate to support the Assignment Desk in our Los Angeles Bureau. This role requires overnight and weekend availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Make and answer phone calls during breaking news.
  • Assist producers and correspondents on field assignments.
  • Identify, research, and pitch stories for news coverage.
  • Make editorial calls to improve content quality.
  • Monitor video feeds and breaking news for the entire News Division.
  • Log and transcribe video.
  • Book travel and handle logistics for correspondents and crews during breaking news.
  • Produce live shots for all ABC Newscasts including, Good Morning America and World News Tonight.
  • Write stories for ABC News Digital platforms.

Required Qualifications & Skills 

  • Minimum of one-year experience working in a newsroom
  • Genuine interest in current events, journalism, and production.
  • Excellent multi-tasker with attention to details.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules/extended hours/weekends, evenings, overnights.

Education 

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in experience


The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $53,300.00 to $71,300.00 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
