Job Description

Lead 2D Artist for a new roguelike deck-builder game. As one of the first hires, you'll define the overall art direction, create 2D game art (characters, backgrounds etc.), and establish art pipelines. This role requires at least five years' experience in a similar role, strong art fundamentals, concept art and character design expertise, and proficiency in Photoshop or Painter. The studio is aiming to create a groundbreaking game inspired by Slay the Spire, Griftlands, and Inscryption, for PC and consoles.

Responsibilities and Requirements

As a Lead 2D Artist, you will bring the overall artistic vision of the game to life. Being one of the first hires for the studio, you will enjoy comprehensive freedom in establishing the look and feel of the game. You will work closely with the Game Director and other team leads in an exciting, fast-paced development environment.

  • Hands-on creation of 2D game art, such as characters, backgrounds, etc.
  • Defining and maintaining the overall art direction for the team
  • Setting up necessary structures and pipelines in the Art department
  • Strong understanding of the full Art workflow

About You

  • At least five years of experience as a 2D artist in similar roles
  • Strong knowledge of art fundamentals
  • Prior experience in concept art and character design, with full understanding of the design pipeline
  • Skilled in Photoshop, Painter, or similar 2D illustration software
  • Sprite/low-pixel/animation knowledge will be valued
