The Salesforce Design Operations Team
At Salesforce, our design teams aspire to make products that people love. Products that make a service agent’s day more productive, a sales campaign
more impactful, and solutions across industries more usable and scalable. Behind our great products are amazing global teams of designers, who work hand-in-hand with a talented group of professionals that helps make it all happen: the Salesforce Design Operations team. We are driven by the power of design to build relationships, drive high quality design consistency and clarity, lead strategic initiatives across our teams and products, and establish meaningful partnerships. Our team is growing, and we are looking for collaborators!
Responsibilities
The Salesforce Design Operations team is looking for a self-starting, organized, and experienced Senior/Lead Design Program Manager (DPM) for our Global Apps & Industries team. This person will partner with executive leadership across our design organization, and build strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders to influence resourcing models, shape product priorities, and align teams around the highest impact design work. This role requires someone who is a relationship builder and a strategic thinker; someone who is fluent in the best practices of user experience and software delivery, and who wants to empower the Apps & Industries UX organisation to partner with the business in a sustainable and healthy way.
As part of the Design Ops team, you will operationalise how the Global Apps & Industries UX organization works together. You will create rituals and cadences that foster team connection, a shared purpose, and a collaborative design community. You’ll create new processes and frameworks that help Apps & Industries UX define, prioritize, and review its work, and identify and share best practices across Salesforce’s other UX teams. You will connect the dots between our design teams by facilitating collaboration and highlighting design dependencies to deliver successfully. You’ll liaise with design leadership and build strong partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders. You will be the point-of-contact for a complex network of business units and functions, and own regular communications up, down, and out to assure alignment and clarity of goals. Lastly, you’ll be the strategic operational center for the Apps & Industries UX leaders in the APAC region, coordinating method and measure reviews, leading team events, and organizing presentation materials for partner audiences.
Requirements
Outstanding partnership, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. The ability to collaborate well in a cross-functional, matrixes management environment, and work across multiple departments and business units.
Experience partnering directly with product management and engineering teams, with an understanding of their priorities, constraints, and how UX informs their work streams.
Thorough familiarity with how design gets done. Understand what happens when and why, what natural dependencies exist, how to mitigate risks, and when it’s OK to be visionary (and when it’s not).
Superb communication skills that shine in-person and across multiple mediums. The talent to tell a story, advocate for a project or program, and facilitate understanding to different audiences at whichever level is appropriate.
Strong understanding of what it takes to ship software at scale. Experience running projects using agile and/or scrum processes, and understand development team make-ups (i.e., roles, responsibilities, and how they interact).
Ability to learn and master internal project management tools to ensure design work is properly represented and tracked, and contribute new tools and processes to make work more visible to the entire organization.
Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives, and technical and non-technical team members.
Desired Experience and Skills
At least 7 years experience working in enterprise software in any combination of Design, DesignOps, or Program Management or Project Management roles.
An internal compass that points towards ethics and equality, and the conviction to speak up if we stray off-course.
Demonstrated ability to influence peers and managers, and build consensus while dealing with ambiguity.
Experience running events and programs for internal teams, external customers, or both at the same time!
Experience designing and thinking in systems, not just single-purpose products, services, or apps.
Experience designing for or with generative AI systems and tools.
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or PMP certification.
A desire to be your authentic self in the workplace.
A desire to collaborate with individuals and teams with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and working styles.
