Job Description

Expression is a fully remote game developer. As a Lead Environment Artist, you will take ownership of the art delivery and visual quality of the game. You will drive development alongside other leads, support timely product delivery, maintain the art schedule, and track team progress. You will also provide line management and mentorship, review the team's work, and ensure they have the right resources. You will be responsible for art pipelines, processes, and maintaining art documentation. The role requires contribution to a positive studio culture.
Must have:
  • Strong artistic skills
  • Experience in team leadership and management
  • Translate game direction into high-quality worlds
  • Expert knowledge of the video game development process
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork
  • Passion for video games, art, and personal development
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Expert knowledge of 3D software (ideally Blender)
  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop and Substance Painter
  • Experience in Unreal Engine 4/5
  • Shipped multiple AA/AAA titles

We're currently working on several exciting projects and are looking for a Lead Environment Artist to join our growing team.


Responsibilities

  • Take ownership and accountability for the art delivery and visual quality of the game
  • Drive the development of the title in conjunction with the other discipline leads 
  • Support smart development adapting scope where needed to enable the timely delivery of the product
  • Maintain a view of the art schedule and track the team’s progress against milestones
  • Provide line management and mentorship to the art team
  • Review and provide feedback on the art team’s work and output in a clear and constructive manner
  • Ensure the art team has the right talent, skills and resources to succeed
  • Take ownership of the art pipelines, processes and practices employed on the project
  • Maintain art documentation and style guides
  • Support the review and approval of development milestones for the product
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and engaging studio culture

  • Expert knowledge of the video game development process and production pipelines
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork-oriented attitude
  • A passion for video games, art and commitment to personal development
  • A creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Expert knowledge of 3D software (ideally Blender)
  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop and Substance Painter
  • Experience in creating content and implementing artwork in Unreal Engine 4/5
  • Shipped multiple AA/AAA titles in a senior or lead role
