Magic: The Gathering Netflix series – and we’re looking for a
Lead Artist to help steer one of our core departments.
As a Lead, you’ll be the key bridge between production and the team, transforming creative direction into organised execution. You’ll coordinate task distribution, support artists, and ensure that everything lands at the highest quality, right on schedule.
What you’ll do: - Represent your craft area professionally on the project
- Break down and plan the department’s responsibilities based on priority and complexity
- Collaborate with the CG Supervisor and other leads to develop optimal task workflows
- Assign tasks and brief artists with clear requirements and reference
- Monitor progress in our internal pipeline (dProject), supporting accurate scheduling
- Lead and motivate your team with proactive, transparent communication
- Review and ensure the quality of deliverables, provide constructive feedback, and approve final outputs
- Present shots and progress in internal and client reviews
- Help resolve daily technical and artistic challenges with other departments when needed
- Collaborate with other divisions and the project supervisor to meet deadlines
- Participate in project post mortems and suggest process improvements
- Maintain documentation and notes in English where needed (in dProject)
What we're looking for: - Freelancers or contractors legally able to invoice under Hungarian law
- 1–2 years of experience as a CG artist, with at least 1 year in a lead role
- Deep knowledge of:
- Autodesk Maya lighting/shading features
- Gaffer (/katana or other node based 3d software)
- Node-based compositing experience ( Nuke)
- Excellent communication and mentorship skills
- Clear understanding of task dependencies, optimal workflows, and production scheduling
- Strong estimation skills for task durations and team capacity
- Solid English skills (spoken and written)
- Familiarity with production/project management tools and methods
- Strong technical and artistic knowledge within your CG specialty
- Understanding of the full asset and animation pipeline and cross-department expectations
- Able to work independently, prioritize, and problem-solve quickly
