Job Description

The Lead Product Manager will drive product strategy, planning, and marketing for a specific product line. Responsibilities include collaborating with customers and partners to prioritize product enhancements, researching market trends, and creating product specifications. They will also work with development teams, participate in GTM strategies, and provide pre-sales support. The role requires a strong understanding of IC design or EDA and the ability to communicate the business value of technical innovations.
Must have:
  • MS or Ph.D. in Engineering or related field.
  • Commercial experience with IC design or EDA.
  • Experience managing complex projects.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of EDA/CAD software.
  • Solid TCL, Python programming skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience leading projects and delivering software support.
  • Technical knowledge of power modeling of ICs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience in a product management role.
  • Expert usage of Ansys Totem/Totem-SC, PathFinder/PathFinder-SC, RedHawk/RedHawk-SC and/or competitive products in the market

Summary / Role Purpose 
The Lead Product Manager is an advanced professional that demonstrates leadership through engagement with customers, field staff, and development to influence strategic revenue objectives and the go-to-market strategy. The individual has deep and broad knowledge of the product portfolio, providing direction to more junior teammates. The individual exercises business acumen to implement models and procedures that impact business growth. He or she has broad knowledge of the product portfolio that is sufficient to educate the broader organization on unique selling points of the products of the given BU.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Drive product strategy, planning, marketing as well as sales support activities for a specific line or area of the Business Unit’s products • Focus on go-to-market activities aimed at helping to achieve strategic revenue objectives
• Work closely with the customers and channel partners to evaluate and prioritize product changes and enhancements• Provide research and insights into ongoing market trends/needs and articulate the findings in the form of product requirements 
• Play proactive role in product planning and design to ensure the product is differentiated from competitors in the marketplace
• Work closely with Development teams to create realistic development plans and schedules
• Create written product specifications and requirements
• Work closely with technical ACE (ANSYS Customer Excellence) teams to gain product feedback and assess competitive threats
• Maintain close relationships with customers to remain aware of their needs and perspectives
• Evaluate and prioritize requests for product changes, enhancements, etc.
• Participate in producing technical white papers, application notes, product positioning presentations, and webinars as part of the GTM strategy
• Engage and facilitate solutions in any Pre-Sales situation as appropriate
• Function as a specialist/expert during customer visits and technical events as appropriate
• Provide quality assurance testing and feedback on new product features and design flows as necessary
• Provide training to Customer Excellence and Account Teams as necessary
• Travel Requirement: 25% locally and internationally.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
• MS or Ph.D. in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, MS with 6 years’ experience, or PhD with 4 years’ experience • Significant commercial experience with IC design, or support of EDA in the semiconductor field
• Ability to manage complex projects• Excellent technical knowledge and significant commercial experience with EDA/CAD software tools particularly on custom layout, STA, Extraction-SPEF/DSPF and Spice  enabling IC design, Analog Mixed Signal circuit design, RFIC design, PowerFET, PMIC, and conceptual knowledge of a specific domain (e.g. power integrity, signal integrity, ESD etc.)
• Proven track record of crafting robust and efficient code
• Solid TCL, Python programming skills
• Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to communicate business value of technical innovations

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
• Advanced degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, 8+ years of combined experience in engineering in semiconductor field, or technical sales
• Experience leading projects and delivering high-quality support for large-scale commercial software• Ability to translate business needs into development plans
• Ability to overcome obstacles and drive projects to completion
• Technical knowledge and experience with power modeling of ICs, IR drop analysis, thermal analysis, advanced process technology, ESD reliability analysis
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and geographies, and to mentor junior engineers
• Prior experience in product management role

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced degree in business, science or engineering, 8+ years of combined significant commercial experience with IC design, or support of EDA in the semiconductor field
  • Expert usage of Ansys Totem/Totem-SC, PathFinder/PathFinder-SC, RedHawk/RedHawk-SC and/or competitive products in the market • Technical knowledge of circuit behavior, physical design, timing and noise analysis, or power noise analysis

  • Prior experience in a product management role
