Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Project Engineer will be responsible for managing, coordinating and driving the execution of Wabtec’s Trip Optimizer™ Energy Management projects. Additionally, the successful candidate will work closely with Program Management, Engineering Management and railroad customers to ensure the projects meet customer requirements and commitments.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Translate customer needs, project requirements and basis of estimate (BOE) into detailed project plans while driving internal execution to meet project milestones.
  • Manage project timeline/development schedule and ensure internal resources and external dependencies are aligned to complete project deliverables per plan.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure continuity, consistency and critical to quality tasks are completed.
  • Provide project leadership for the engineering team.  Maintain and track project tasks, features and action items. Work with the team to develop solutions to problems. Identify and escalate project risks to ensure on time delivery commitments and cost targets are met.
  • Assist in the deployment and monitoring of the product. Monitor product and customer reported issues and ensure defects are logged, assigned and tracked to completion.
  • Participate in development of proposals for projects as required.
  • Ensure that delivered products achieve highest quality and performance levels.
  • Be able to think critically and creatively to develop solutions that enable the best outcomes for the business.
  • Develop metrics and scorecards to measure key performance indicators (KPIs).  Analyze and drive improvements.
     

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Engineering, Application Engineering, Systems Engineering, Hardware / Software Engineering, and/or Data Information Systems.

$77,400.00-$110,300.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.
