We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer - DevOps with deep experience in software development. Our daily bread is technical challenges that require strong problem-solving skills. THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Lead the team to design, deploy, and maintain highly available and scalable AWS infrastructure.
  • Design and automate infrastructure using Terraform and deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with development team on integration of applications into the Kubernetes (EKS) environment.
  • Monitor (Grafana/Prometheus/Graylog) the health and performance of Vendavo Cloud services and Kubernetes clusters, implementing proactive measures to prevent issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents.
  • Optimize resource allocation and utilization in the Kubernetes environment.
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and monitoring of Kubernetes clusters using infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD (Azure) for deploying applications to Kubernetes.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance and implement best practices for securing infrastructure.
  • Be an SME for within the Cloud handling requests, issues and escalations as needed.
  • Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning of the AWS and Kubernetes environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in Kubernetes and cloud-native ecosystem.
  • Maintain, modify, and assume responsibility for ongoing infrastructure architecture
  • Assist in Code Reviews and Design Reviews

THE SKILL SET

  • 10+ years’ experience in DevOps and AWS Infrastructure.
  • Tech-lead who has consistently demonstrated the capability to develop high level technical design.
  • Strong experience in designing, deploying, and managing AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters in a production environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Ability to multi-task to a high degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS/Kubernetes architecture, components, and best practices.
  • Proficient in containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
  • Expert in AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, and IAM.
  • Experience with Amazon DocumentDB or MongoDB administration.
  • Experience with Amazon RDS, including database administration, backup and recovery, and replication.
  • Advanced Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
  • Worked with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Graylog.
  • Experience with OpenSearch (formerly known as Elasticsearch) and its ecosystem, including Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, and related tools.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols in the context of Kubernetes.
  • Advanced knowledge in scripting and automation skills (e.g. Python).
  • Advanced knowledge with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure Pipelines.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for securing Kubernetes clusters.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Kubernetes certification (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer)
  • AWS certified
  • Terraform certification (HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate)
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
