Gunzilla Games seeks a Lead VFX Artist to enhance their AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, Off The Grid (OTG). Responsibilities include leading and mentoring the VFX team, collaborating with art and production directors on scheduling and task assignment, creating real-time particle systems, exploring new technologies for optimal results, implementing and optimizing shader-based effects, defining and enforcing industry-leading working practices, ensuring quality standards, and fostering communication between teams. The role requires 5+ years of game development experience with at least one shipped AAA title (FPS, shooter, or BR preferred), expertise in game FX, proficiency in 3ds Max/Maya/Blender, Photoshop, Substance Designer, and Unreal Engine 4/5, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Founded in 2020, Gunzilla Games is the independent AAA video game developer and publisher behind the free-to-play mobile game TECHNOCORE, the gamer-first blockchain GUNZ, and the upcoming next-gen battle royale Off The Grid, in three metropolitan locations: Frankfurt, Germany (HQ); Kyiv, Ukraine; and London, UK. ABOUT THE JOB

Gunzilla Games is looking for a Lead VFX Artist who will add extra life to the environment, characters, weapons, and other assets on our game OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, currently available as Early Access on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S, and PC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Lead VFX Artist, you will:

  • Lead, Supervise and mentor the VFX team
  • Work with our Lead Art & Creative Directors to maintain and ensure the VFX vision and style of our game through regular appraisal, review and objective setting for the VFX team
  • Collaborate with Art directors, production director to schedule and assign tasks, goals and milestones for the team.
  • Creation of real-time particle systems in the engine, including textures and materials
  • Explore new technologies on the given platforms to achieve the best possible results
  • Implementation and optimisation of shader-based effects
  • Define and enforce industry-leading working practices and structure for the given project based on scope and resources
  • Ensure good quality standards are set and achieved across the team
  • Ensure good communication & coordination between the VFX team and other development teams

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years experience in game development, with at least 1 shipped AAA title, FPS, Shooter or BR preferred
  • Expert understanding of current game FX processes, limitations and dependencies
  • Strong knowledge of 3ds Max / Maya or Blender, Photoshop, and Substance Designer
  • Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine 4/5
  • Ability to manage the demands of numerous people and tasks
  • Ability to deliver and receive constructive feedback
  • Team leadership qualities and a team player.
  • The ability to manage and supervise artists and to carry out mentorship tasks
  • Good English communication and writing skills
