As Legal Counsel, you'll advise on diverse legal matters, working with the Legal Director and stakeholders across the Group. Responsibilities include contract review, drafting, and negotiation; providing corporate legal support; liaising with external counsel; participating in legal projects; advising on IP, data protection, commercial, and corporate/company secretarial matters; conducting legal research; and providing day-to-day support to various business units. This is a crucial role in shaping the legal team's strategy within a growing and evolving landscape.
Must have:
  • University Law Degree
  • 3-5 years PQE (or equivalent experience)
  • Corporate, Commercial Contract, IP, Data Protection expertise
  • Excellent communication & problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in document & project management software
Good to have:
  • Video game industry experience
  • Knowledge of gaming regulations

Legal Counsel

Hybrid: 4 days a month in the office minimum

Salary Range: £55,000 to £75,000

What You Will be doing:

Working with the Legal Director and a host of stakeholders across the Group you will advise on a diverse area of legal matters and really get to the heart of commercial issues.  This is the second legal role to be appointed within any of the Group businesses and as such will be very important in helping to devise the strategy for the team in an ever changing and growing landscape.

 

Your Day-To-Day:

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiation of contracts related to the company’s business
  • Providing support and legal advice in relation to corporate matters
  • Liaising with external counsels and advisors
  • Participation in various projects managed by or involving the Legal team
  • Providing legal advice on matters relating to intellectual property rights, data protection, general commercial and contract law matters and corporate/company secretarial
  • Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda or legal analyses for internal stakeholders
  • Providing day-to-day legal support to stakeholders in each operating business within the Group
  • Assisting with any additional tasks according to the needs of the company

 

 What You’ll Need:

  • University Law Degree, with 3-5 years of post qualification experience.  We will consider candidates outside of this range, this is just a guide of what we anticipate being required.
  • Full working proficiency in English;
  • Previous experience in the Video Games sector (desired not essential)
  • Knowledge of gaming regulations and compliance requirements (desired not essential)
  • Knowledge of, and proven experience in the following areas of law: Corporate Law; Commercial Contracts; Intellectual Property Management and Data Protection.
  • High level of independence and accountability
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a remote environment
  • Savvy in using document and project management software and tools such as (Microsoft Office, Google Docs, DocuSign, ClickUp etc.)
  • Proactive and problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
