The Legal Operations Lead at Epic Games oversees a team of four, reporting to senior legal leadership. Responsibilities include coordinating with various departments (IT, finance, security), establishing team roles and responsibilities, analyzing data to improve department efficiency, automating tasks, implementing legal technologies, providing project management, and overseeing knowledge management (documentation, training). The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, project management, and technical skills, be comfortable with ambiguity and change, and proactively identify solutions. This role requires excellent communication, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

What We Do

Epic's multi-specialized team of attorneys and legal professionals partner across our organization to provide legal solutions as well as consult and inform on the products we build and games we develop. 

What You'll Do

In this role, you’ll oversee the Legal Operations team, reporting directly to a senior member of the Legal Department and meeting frequently with the leadership of the legal organization. You’ll provide world-class support to a dynamic, ambitious, and fast-paced video game and software development company. You’ll leverage your management and project management skills, subject matter expertise and independent judgment to identify, assess and implement ways to achieve the goals of the Legal Operations team. You’ll have independence to pursue goals set by legal leadership and your lead and be responsible for identifying efficient, cost-effective solutions for the team.

In this role, you will

  • Take over leadership of a recently centralized Legal Operations team of four
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with other teams at Epic, including but not limited to IT, accounts payable, finance, account and information security, regarding Legal Operations matters
  • Clearly establish roles and responsibilities for individual members of the Legal Operations team, assess gaps in coverage and ensure defined lines of responsibility for tasks
  • Oversee identifying, collecting and analyzing data and insights about the Legal Department, including team performance, client satisfaction, productivity, benchmarking and costs, and apply insights from that data to recommend improvements
  • Work to continuously make the Legal Department more efficient by improving processes and automating tasks, keeping abreast of developments in legal technology, identifying and evaluating technology and infrastructure solutions and overseeing their implementation and maintenance
  • Provide project management services for the Legal Department
  • Oversee knowledge management for the Legal Department, document policies and procedures, conduct trainings and disseminate and maintain institutional knowledge.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in the Legal Operations leadership environment
  • Prior experience in managing support teams at a fast-paced technology company
  • Highly internally motivated, with the ability to ensure team members are fully engaged and used at capacity even in the absence of leadership instruction
  • Passionate about proactively identifying problems and proposing solutions independently of management direction
  • A quick and flexible learner. Intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, highly practical, comfortable with ambiguity, and truly motivated by dynamic change
  • Technical ability to understand and compare technology solutions and understand how these systems may meet or fail to meet needs
  • Confidence in being a primary point of contact for a wide range of internal stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, sound judgment, and excellent multi-tasking and time management abilities.
  • Pragmatism and exercise of sound judgment under ambiguous circumstances, coupled with ability to identify and escalate key issues when warranted.

This role is open to multiple locations across North America (including CA, NYC, & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

Washington Base Pay Range
$183,686$269,405 USD
