Job Description

As a Level Scripter at Cloud Imperium Games, you'll be part of a design team crafting gameplay for Squadron 42's single-player campaign. Responsibilities include implementing mission flow and logic using the company's proprietary engine and visual scripting software; designing and implementing gameplay content; scripting AI behaviors and tuning combat scenarios; contributing to design discussions; implementing feedback from design leads; and balancing content based on playtesting. The role demands a strong understanding of mission design and modern game engines, excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality standards.
Must have:
  • Knowledge of modern game engines (Unreal Engine, CryEngine, Unity)
  • Excellent understanding of Mission Design

As a Level Scripter on Squadron 42 you will be working as part of a larger Design team to help create and implement cutting edge gameplay within a meticulously crafted, single-player cinematic adventure. Squadron 42 offers diverse and exciting gameplay challenges from start to finish, so join us and help us to create something truly special.

Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge videogames that defy expectations. We’re currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. What does a Level Scripter do at CIG?

  • Implementation of mission flow and logic within our proprietary engine and visual scripting software.
  • Help design and implement gameplay content that pushes the boundaries of our single-player campaign.
  • Assist in bringing our incredibly realistic locations to life by scripting AI behaviours and tuning combat scenarios.
  • Contribute to design discussions and assist in solving various design challenges that strive for quality above all else.
  • Implementation of feedback from Design leads and balancing content based on playtesting.

What do we expect from a Level Scripter?

  • Demonstratable knowledge of modern game engines (such as Unreal Engine 4/5, CryEngine or Unity) with examples of personal/professional work or group projects showcasing visual scripting and layouts.
  • Excellent understanding of Mission Design and the ability to create robust logic that withstands destructive testing.
  • Able to easily work with others in a friendly and positive environment, communicating vision between departments and the ability to give/receive feedback willingly.
  • Highly pro-active with good organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, at times unsupervised whilst delivering consistently high-quality standards.

About The Company

Cloud Imperium Games is a new kind of independent studio dedicated to delivering AAA experiences outside the established publisher system, founded by Chris Roberts, creator of the best selling Wing Commander and Freelancer series, Cloud Imperium is currently developing Star Citizen, a record-shattering crowd funded title that combines classic space sim gameplay with Hollywood-caliber visuals.


Cloud Imperium aims to pave new ground in game development by sharing the process with the players.
