Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CG Supervisor and VFX Supervisor to determine the best approach to solve 3D challenges and develop final looks.
- Work closely with 3D artists and Compositors to integrate CG elements into live-action plates.
- Develop lighting set-ups for CG environments, characters and props.
- Provide solutions to creative & technical problems under tight deadlines.
- Effectively economize and manage renders while achieving top quality.
- Ensure assigned shots fit the continuity of the sequence.
- Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets.
- Maintain best practices, lighting pipeline and workflow integrity.
- Demonstrate proactive involvement for continual improvements in skills and workflow.
- Provide mentorship to other digital artists in Lighting and Rendering.
- Promotes a positive, productive, and collaborative work environment.
- Acts as an ambassador of Mavericks’ core values and studio culture.
Qualifications and Essential Skills
- 5+ years experience as a Lighter in a live-action VFX pipeline
- Advanced understanding of lighting and shading processes
- An excellent eye for detail, composition, colour, and lighting
- Excellent artistic skills, with a particular emphasis on real-world lighting/photography
- Comprehensive understanding of colour theory and LUTs
- Ability to work independently to complete work and manage delivery expectations
- Expert knowledge of Maya and/or Houdini
- Tool building and scripting knowledge an asset (Python, hscript, mel, bash)
- Experience with V-RAY
- Knowledge of Nuke considered an asset
- Linux experience preferred
