Job Description

The Applied Machine Learning (AML) team at ByteDance is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to contribute to their next-generation AI infrastructure and recommendation platform. You will work on projects related to ads ranking, search ranking, live & e-commerce ranking, and other applications like recommendation systems, advertising, and multimodal pre-training. This role involves applying and optimizing machine learning algorithms, collaborating with engineering teams, and exploring new algorithms. You'll be part of a team that drives significant impact on ByteDance's core businesses.

Must have:

Proficiency in C/C++ programming
Familiarity with TensorFlow/PyTorch
Knowledge of deep learning algorithms

Good to have:

About the team: The Applied Machine Learning (AML) team serves as ByteDance's central AI organization. We conduct focused research and engineering, with the support of massive computation resources, to build and deploy state-of-the-art AI core technologies, including but not limited to LLM, recommendations, etc. Responsibilities: The mission of our AML team is to push the next-generation AI infrastructure and recommendation platform for the ads ranking, search ranking, and live & e-commerce ranking in our company. We also drive substantial impact on the core businesses of the company. 1. Participate in the application and optimization of machine learning algorithms in products such as Douyin (TikTok) and Toutiao. This includes areas such as recommendation systems, advertising, multimodal pre-training, and scientific computing, which require significant computational resources. 2. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to explore new algorithms under new architectures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 1. Proficiency in C/C++ programming skills with a solid foundation, excellent programming style, and work habits. 2. Familiarity with at least one mainstream deep learning programming framework (TensorFlow/PyTorch). 3. Knowledge of deep learning algorithms (CNN/RNN/LSTM/RL, large-scale Sparse&Dense models for recommendation and advertising, etc.). 4. Ability to independently solve problems, possess a strong sense of teamwork, and excellent communication skills. 5. Strong motivation, willingness to accept challenges and innovative thinking. Preferred Qualifications 1. Familiarity with algorithm design in large-scale systems. 2. Practical project experience in recommendation systems, advertising, multimodal applications, or scientific computing. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $184300 - $389500 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
