Job Description

The Maintenance Technician will join the Duluth Building Finishing team, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC). This includes troubleshooting and repairing PLC and electromechanical equipment, managing inventory, operating machine tools, performing building maintenance, preparing reports, and supporting continuous improvement activities. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in general repairs within a manufacturing environment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Must have:
  • 5 years experience in general repairs within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in at least two of the following trades: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, welding or machining.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hands and use various tools.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
Good to have:
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including spreadsheets, graphs and charts.
  • Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to develop and expand PM programs.
  • Ability to meet company certification requirements in forklift operation.

Job Details

Pay Rage $28.00 to $30.00 Hr.

We are seeking a dynamic Maintenance Technician to join our Duluth Building Finishing team. Responsibilities include:

  • Actively participate in the plant's Sika SAFE Program and maintain safety standards.
  • Maintain, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facility systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC).
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC and electromechanical equipment, including understanding of ladder logic.
  • Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; procure replacements as needed.
  • Operate machine tools and equipment safely to repair and fabricate parts.
  • Perform building maintenance tasks, including structural repairs and grounds maintenance.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records of activities, work orders, and preventive maintenance.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement activities as directed by management.
  • Perform other work and special projects as required by the manager.

Preferred Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in general repairs in a manufacturing environment, including experience in at least two of the following trades:  electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, welding or machining; OR any combination of training that provides the required knowledge and abilities to do the job.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude; must have demonstrated ability to work with hands and use various tools; must be able to climb in overhead structures and work beneath machines in close quarters to perform installations, repairs and maintenance, must have ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; must be able to work with minimal supervision; must be organized with good written and oral communication skills; must be able to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Must be flexible to work overtime as necessary.
  • Must be able to meet company certification requirements for forklift operation. 
  • Must have working knowledge of computer applications including spreadsheets, graphs and charts. Must have proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications. Must be able to develop and expand PM programs.
