Job Description

As a Manager of data engineering, you will be responsible for hiring, mentoring, and leading a team of data engineers working on complex issues involving large datasets. You will collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to understand business goals and advocate for data architectures. You will help shape data engineering practices by defining and implementing data standards. Your work will positively impact top-line growth for the company. You will be working on building and managing a data engineering team, implementing Agile practices, influencing technical strategy, optimizing data infrastructure, contributing to data governance, and partnering with stakeholders to translate business goals.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of industry experience in data engineering and databases.
  • 2+ years of experience managing data teams.
  • Excellent skills in SQL, Python/PySpark.
  • Experience working with remote teams.

As a Manager of data engineering, you will be responsible for hiring, mentoring and leading a team of data engineers working on complex issues involving large datasets. You will work closely with product managers and other stakeholders across the company to understand long-term business goals and advocate for data architectures and technology choices that best support those business goals. You will help shape data engineering practice in the organization by defining and implementing data standards and analytics best practices. Your work will positively impact top-line growth for the company.

What you’ll be working on 
  • Build and manage a team of data engineers from scratch. Implement mentorship programs and career growth paths to retain top talent.  
  • Implement Agile practices to deliver value at velocity to the business. Foster collaboration across time zones 
  • Influence technical strategy and architecture for scalable pipelines and data models 
  • Optimize data infrastructure for cost, performance, and reliability 
  • Contribute and lead data governance initiatives and frameworks 
  • Partner with stakeholders, product managers and analysts to translate business goals into data initiatives 
  • Monitor and manage data quality to ensure high quality data 
 
What you’ll bring to the role 
  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, or related field 
  • 8+ years of industry experience in data engineering, Databases, AWS 
  • 2+ years of experience managing data teams 
  • Excellent skills in SQL, Python/PySpark 
  • Proven track record of hiring and mentoring top notch engineers 
  • Experience working with remote teams and bridging cultural/time zone gaps 
  • Strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and resolve conflicts
