Job Description

The Manager, Employee Relations at Disney in Anaheim, CA, plays a crucial role in enhancing the employee experience. This involves collaborating with leaders and employees on critical employment matters, such as workplace accommodations, concerns, performance management, and threat assessments. The role demands creating and implementing company-wide strategies aligned with Disney's values and culture, requiring interaction with state and federal agencies. Key responsibilities include partnering across the Walt Disney Company to improve employee engagement and business outcomes. The successful candidate will need strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and expertise in employee relations, investigations, and relevant laws (Title VII, ADA, ADAAA, FMLA). Strong communication and conflict resolution skills are essential.

Job Summary:

We are a dynamic fast-paced team supporting Disney Experiences! We are hiring for a Manager, Employee Relations to support our team in Anaheim, CA. We look forward to having you join us!

What You Will Do

  • Enhancing the employee experience by engaging with leaders and employees, during critical moments in the life cycle of the employment relationship such as workplace accommodations and workplace concerns to include Development, Workplace Threats, Performance Management, etc.
  • Creating & implementing company-wide strategies to enable decisions that are consistent with Company policies, values & culture. Interfacing with state and federal administrative agencies as needed.
  • Integrating key partners across the Walt Disney Company to drive solutions that promote employee engagement and business results.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3-years of strong influential leadership experience or in a professional level role
  • Critical thinker, with demonstrated experience translating strategic goals/concepts into action plans and implementing initiatives at an operational level.
  • Ability to analyze data, trends, and insights to identify the root cause of the event.
  • Demonstrated experience in consulting and/or delivering diversity and inclusion recommendations and solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong, inclusive, and collaborative working relationships.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong presentation skills; must be able to confidently make recommendations to senior business leaders or HR/DI partners for improved employee relations and business results based on data and findings.
  • Broad knowledge of employee relations, complex workplace investigations, federal and state laws / regulations (including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, ADAAA and FMLA).
  • Ability to manage competing, high-priority demands; prioritizing workload, managing projects and multiple responsibilities against strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and be part of a team environment while developing highly effective and valued professional relationships with peers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential situations with objectivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish speaking/writing
  • Experience in administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, human resources, psychology, sociology, industrial labor relations or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Law or Advanced degree preferred

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $137,100.00 to $167,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
