Manager, Tax

About the Role

Join our team as a Manager, Tax where you will support our U.S. corporate income tax function. This role offers significant opportunity to strengthen your expertise in ASC 740 and compliance with U.S. tax regulations. You'll be responsible for income tax compliance, driving strategic tax planning, and navigating complex regulations for our organization. We are seeking an accountant with proven experience managing corporate tax filings and a desire for professional development.

This is a hybrid position based in our New York City Headquarters.

Responsibilities:

• Support global tax accounting and compliance functions, contributing to our overall tax strategy.
• Prepare quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision calculations, including deferred tax asset/liability analysis and financial statement disclosures.
• Provide comprehensive support for financial reporting related to income tax, including FIN 48, cash tax analysis, and balance sheet activities.
• Conduct detailed reviews of book/tax differences, leveraging tax automation tools for accurate reporting.
• Support the U.S. federal and state income tax compliance process.
• Conduct tax research and provide technical guidance on evolving tax laws, regulatory changes, and their impact on our tax strategy and operations.
• Collaborate with tax, finance, and IT teams to implement and improve tax technology strategies.
• Manage tax audits, internal controls testing, and tax authority reviews, ensuring effective resolution of inquiries.
• Identify process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of tax reporting procedures.
• Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
• This role reports to Senior Tax Manager

Basic Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience related to financial reporting, compliance and tax technology.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Working knowledge of ASC 740 or experience in corporate tax compliance.
• Experience adapting to different tax software systems, i.e. OneSource Tax Provision, CorpTax, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA and/or Master’s degree
• Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
