Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer Senior role at Coherent Corp involves addressing non-conforming materials, communicating revision changes, and collaborating with various engineering teams to ensure manufacturability. Responsibilities include monitoring production metrics, analyzing data, and implementing initiatives for efficiency, waste reduction, and profitability. The role also entails analyzing current processes, conducting time studies, applying deviations in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), setting up flows, assisting with product building, training new hires, creating ECOs, extracting yield data, and troubleshooting production issues. The role requires a proactive mindset to identify and resolve production challenges. This role requires a U.S. citizen.

  • Assist with Troubleshooting production issues.

Job Details

Coherent Corp is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Aerospace & Defense division in Bloomfield, CT.  

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Address non-conforming material and determine appropriate dispositions
  • Communicate revision changes to Manufacturing, providing training on new processes
  • Collaborate with Product, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering to ensure manufacturability of new products
  • Monitor production metrics, analyze data, and propose and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall profitability
  • Analyze current processes, identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and propose/implement improvements
  • Conducting time Studies
    • Yearly cost roll – update routings in Oracle based on data from time studies and yields.
  • Apply deviation in our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) -Cumulus
  • Set-up Cumulus flows for new product
  • Assist with building products when needed to ensure targets/revenue are met
  • Train new hires on Coil Winding 
  • Create ECO’s 
  • Extract and report yield data
  • Work with quality engineers to ensure manufacturing processes meet required standards
  • Assist with Troubleshooting production issues and equipment failures
  • Develop and release comprehensive work instructions through Agile
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required
  • 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in environments applying Lean Manufacturing or Lean Six Sigma tools to optimize workflows and reduce inefficiencies

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to interact with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive mindset for identifying potential production challenges.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
