Job Description

As a Mechanical Artist at Hogarth, you will produce mechanicals for clients. You will work alongside a team of Mechanical Artists, Designers, and Project Managers. Responsibilities include implementing content, following instructions, providing layout solutions, managing workload, completing checklists, creating templates, maintaining server structure, managing files, performing quality control, adhering to confidentiality policies, communicating with the team, and contributing to a continuous improvement work philosophy.
Must have:
  • 5+ years experience in mechanical production, printing, and technology
  • BA in Graphic Design/Print Media or equivalent
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat)
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently and with a team
  • Meticulous attention to detail
Good to have:
  • Prepress background a plus
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop a plus

What does a Mechanical Artist do at Hogarth? 

As a Mechanical Artist, you will be producing mechanicals for our client to be viewed by the world. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of all aspects of print production design and be working alongside a talented team that consists of technical and creative Mechanical Artists, Designers, and Project Managers. Daily, you'll be working in a fast-paced, fun environment, producing print-ready mechanicals. This is a role for a collaborative individual who is highly organized, extremely detail-oriented, and capable of working with high expectations within flexible and demanding deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Studio Project Managers and Production Design to accurately implement content across a range of mechanicals
  • Practice meticulous attention to detail and follow instructions precisely
  • Provide multiple layout solutions when necessary
  • Manage a high-volume workload
  • Complete relevant checklists for all assigned tasks to ensure the highest level of quality and accuracy 
  • Create and update mechanical templates with new specifications
  • Maintain strict server structure and file organization guidelines
  • Manage files and processes (incoming/outgoing, naming, archiving, etc.)
  • Consistently adhere to file naming strategies
  • Perform quality-control measures on individual and peer work
  • Abide by (and enforce) the client’s strict confidentiality policies
  • Communicate articulately with the team, sharing and documenting any issues or knowledge to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Contribute to a continuous improvement work philosophy

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in mechanical production, printing, and technology
  • BA in Graphic Design/Print Media or equivalent
  • Prepress background a plus
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat); working knowledge of Photoshop a plus
  • Proactive in keeping skills up to date and driving self-improvement
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work both independently and with a team
  • Ability to navigate complex processes and tools

The base salary range for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
