Job Description

Tesla's Berlin office seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for Battery Structures. Responsibilities include full product design from concept to production launch, 3D design and GD&T drawings of complex parts and assemblies, basic testing and analysis or support for advanced testing, design optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role requires strong engineering fundamentals in materials and mechanics, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in CAD modeling (CATIA V5/3DX a plus). The ideal candidate will challenge industry standards and contribute to continuous product and process improvement.

Mechanical Design Engineer – Battery Structures

Be part of a growing and energetic Battery Structures Engineering team to engineer, execute and deliver cutting-edge products to global customers. You will work with cross-functional team members to continuously innovate and launch new products for Europe and other growing markets.  

What You’ll Do
  • Full product design responsibility – from concept through production launch and ramp
  • 3D design and GD&T drawings of complex parts and assemblies
  • Own basic testing & analysis and/or support advanced testing and failure/root cause analysis
  • Optimize designs via analytical, numerical, and/or empirical assessments
  • Collaborate with teams inside and outside Tesla (manufacturing, test, NPI, supply chain, etc.)
  • Support continuous product and process improvement and challenge industry standards (as well as our own) to continually raise the bar

What You’ll Bring
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in materials and mechanics
  • Find joy from solving problem with design solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to create products: from design to hands-on prototyping
  • Detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling (experience in CATIA V5/3DX is a plus but not required)
  • Prior experience in a relevant engineering field and high volume manufacturing is valued but not required
