Job Summary

Metering Solutions O&M Tech I

Entry or developmental level position providing field technical or engineering support in designated areas or to specific engineering disciplines. Specifically, the successful candidate will support and troubleshoot communications of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters and Network equipment and support and troubleshoot Automated Meter Reading (AMR) technology and equipment.

This role will include technician work relating to modifying, operating or maintaining systems or equipment. This position will require regular traveling, most travel will occur within the region; however, some additional day trips and overnight trips will be necessary for supporting other regions and/or training. The successful candidate must be able to gain and maintain access to military bases and other governmental facilities. Performs basic and/or routine assignments and tasks under the direct supervision of the supervisor or work leader, which are designed to develop and enhance technical or engineering expertise, knowledge and abilities for progression to the next level. Assists in engineering or technical support in designated company area or specialized function. Assist Metering Solutions O&M Technician II or III with analyzing and evaluating systems, equipment, process improvements, and programs for assurance that they are modified, operated, and maintained in accordance with Company policy and procedure and regulatory requirements.

Metering Solutions O&M Tech II

Responsible for providing field technical or engineering support in designated company areas or to specific engineering disciplines. Ability to work independently in the application of technical or engineering skills and knowledge. The incumbent is capable of completing routine assignments and tasks with limited supervision and direction. Under the supervision of a supervisor or work leader, the successful candidate will support and troubleshoot communications of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters and Network equipment and support and troubleshoot Automated Meter Reading (AMR) technology and equipment. Additional responsibilities include providing contractor oversight and auditing throughout our service territory, conducting analysis, research and design to further develop professional knowledge and abilities, and to provide technical support in designated company areas or specialized functions. This may include analyzing and evaluating systems, equipment, process improvements, and programs for assurance that they are modified, operated, and maintained in accordance with Company policy, procedure, and regulatory requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

This job will be filled commensurate with the successful candidates experience at the discretion of the hiring leader and the needs of the business at either the Tech I or Tech II level.

Metering Solutions O&M Tech I

  • 0-2 years of related experience
  • Basic knowledge of operation, maintenance and technical design applications
  • Basic oral and written communication skills

Metering Solutions O&M Tech II

  • 3+ years related experience.
  • Sufficient knowledge, technical expertise and work experience to perform essential duties of the job.
  • Basic knowledge of operation, maintenance and technical design applications.
  • Knowledge of the design and operation of moderate to complex systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of industry codes, government regulations and company policies and practices.
  • Working knowledge in the operation and application of personal computers and software program.
  • Good oral and written communication skills to include basic technical writing skills.
  • Ability to apply, with limited guidance, engineering theories and concepts to effectively address problems.
  • Analytical and abstract thinking skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and to quickly process information.
  • Ability to interpret industry codes, regulations and practices with general supervision.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks Project management skills.

Education Requirements

Associate Degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education

Preferred Disciplines: Computer Science; Electrical Technology; Engineering Technology; Instrumentation Technology

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
