Job Summary
This Middle Manual QA Engineer role at N-iX involves working with North America's leading student transportation provider. The engineer will collaborate with QA and development teams to design, develop, and execute automated test scripts, analyze results, and troubleshoot defects. Key responsibilities include participating in test plan creation, improving automation processes, and contributing to framework enhancements. The role requires strong backend testing skills, database knowledge, and experience with various QA tools, operating within US time zones.
Must Have
- Collaborate with QA team and developers on requirements and test cases.
- Design and develop automated test scripts.
- Execute automated tests and analyze results for defects.
- Participate in test plan creation and process improvement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with developers.
- Prepare test data and set up automation testing environments.
- Enhance test automation frameworks and infrastructure.
- Work with cross-functional teams on operational challenges.
- Stay updated with test automation trends and best practices.
- 2+ years of overall QA experience.
- In-depth knowledge of test metrics, approaches, and best practices.
- Backend testing experience (API, relational databases like SQL/PostgreSQL).
- Experience with Jira and test management tools (e.g., TestRail).
- Extensive database knowledge (JOINs, aggregate functions, relations).
- Ability to work during US hours (15:00 - 24:00 UA time).
- Intermediate strong English, Advanced Ukrainian.
- Application log tracing and troubleshooting (Datadog, ELK).
- Experience with Postman and Swagger for API testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Good to Have
- Experience with Kafka.
- Knowledge of browser-specific testing tools.
- Experience working with AWS.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the QA team and developers to understand requirements and identify test cases suitable for automation.
- Design and develop robust and maintainable automated test scripts using industry-standard test automation frameworks and tools.
- Execute automated test scripts and analyze test results to identify defects and ensure the functionality and performance of our software applications.
- Participate in test plan creation, test case design, and continuous improvement of the automation testing process.
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing.
- Perform test data preparation and set up automation testing environments as needed.
- Contribute to the enhancement of test automation frameworks and infrastructure.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve operational challenges and bottlenecks.
- Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in test automation and quality assurance
Qualifications and Skills:
- 2+ years of overall QA experience
- In-depth knowledge of test metrics, approaches and best practices.
- Need to have backend testing experience (API testing, hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL/PostgreSQL etc.))
- Experience with bug tracking (Jira) and test management tools - TestRail or similar)
- Extensive DB knowledge (JOINs, aggregate functions, types of relations)
- Ability to work during US hours (15.00 - 24.00 UA time)
- Experience with Kafka is preferred but not mandatory
- Application log tracing and troubleshooting (Datadog, ELK or similar)
- Experience with Postman, Swagger (for API testing and documentation)
- Knowledge of browser-specific testing tools will be a plus
- Experience working with AWS will be a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- At least an Intermediate strong level of English, and an Advanced level of Ukrainian
