Job Description

The Middle/Senior Database Administrator will oversee and optimize database environments, ensuring high performance, uptime, and robust backup and recovery processes. Responsibilities include designing and managing DB2 LUW servers, building and operating a high-availability DB2 LUW environment (including pureScale), using and managing DB2 Data Movement Utilities, creating and maintaining DB2 database objects, monitoring and optimizing SQL performance, troubleshooting database and performance issues, implementing and managing DB2 security features, supporting backup and recovery operations, and collaborating with other teams to support the database lifecycle in development, test, and production environments.
Must have:
  • Solid basic Unix/Linux knowledge, especially RHEL Enterprise Linux
  • Skilled in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
  • Proficiency in backup and restore methodologies
  • Willingness to participate in on-call duties after onboarding
  • An Upper-Intermediate level of English
  • German at native level
Good to have:
  • Experience with DB2 LUW versions 10.1, 10.5, and 11.5
  • Familiarity with DB2 utilities for maintenance and administration
  • Hands-on experience with DB2 in high-availability environments (e.g., pureScale)
  • Experience with tools typically found in DB2 environments
  • Understanding of DB2 security mechanisms

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage DB2 LUW servers
  • Build and operate a high-availability DB2 LUW environment, including pureScale
  • Use and manage standard DB2 Data Movement Utilities
  • Create and maintain DB2 database objects
  • Monitor and optimize SQL performance, especially for Java JDBC applications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database and performance issues
  • Implement and manage DB2 security features to protect sensitive data
  • Support backup and recovery operations and strategies
  • Collaborate with other teams to support the database lifecycle in development, test and production environments
