Guru Studio is looking for an experienced 3D Modeling Artist with Unreal experience to contribute to a new CG shorts series. The responsibilities include modeling assets for a television series based on approved designs, identifying and solving design problems, delivering work on schedule, staying updated on modeling techniques, and taking direction from leads. The candidate will also be expected to re-topologize sculpted objects for rigging, texturing, and animation. The studio is known for producing award-winning shows like True and the Rainbow Kingdom and PAW Patrol, and they value quality, original thinking, and respect for artist workflows.
Must have:
  • 2-3 years of 3D modeling experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of subdivision-modeling polygonal objects.
  • Strong understanding of Maya and Unreal.
  • Strong organic sculpting skills.
  • Ability to communicate creatively and technically.
Good to have:
  • Redshift experience.
  • Strong practical vehicle and hard modeling skills.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Shotgrid.
  • Strong 2D skills.

Job Details

Guru Studio is crewing up for an exciting new CG shorts series and we're looking for an experienced 3D Modeling Artist with Unreal experience to help us bring this new world to life.

You’ll be joining a vibrant entertainment company known for creating, developing and producing award-winning, hit shows such as True and the Rainbow Kingdom for Netflix, the smash-hit PAW Patrol, Mattel’s Ever After High; and our own Emmy Award nominated series Justin Time. Our studio also contributed visual development on the Academy Award nominated animated feature The Breadwinner.

Responsibilities:

  • Model appealing production friendly assets for a television series based on approved designs
  • Identify problems in designs and provide well thought out solutions
  • Make sure work is completed and delivered per schedule
  • Keep current on modeling techniques and technology and propose new tools/methodologies
  • Take direction from Lead and Supervisor when provided
  • Complete scheduled tasks on time
  • Use 3D modeling software to re-topologize sculpted objects optimally for rigging, texturing, and animation


Qualifications:

  • 2 - 3 years experience working as a 3D Modeler.
  • Extensive knowledge in subdivision-modeling polygonal objects, using Maya, Zbrush, Blender, Houdini and/or art packages.
  • Must know Maya and Unreal, and have a strong understanding of our pre-existing rendering technology - Redshift experience is preferred
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to understand and interpret 2D Designs in 3D
  • Strong organic sculpting skills is a must
  • The ideal candidate would have strong practical vehicle and hard modeling skills
  • Ability to communicate creatively and technically to your teammates
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Shotgrid is an asset
  • Strong 2D Skills is an asset.
  • Love for Animation!
