About the job

Job Description

This role involves developing system architectures with hardware acceleration for Machine Learning (ML) in multimedia applications. You will collaborate with various teams (research, algorithm, product, hardware, software, SoC architecture, and implementation) to define end-to-end ML acceleration solutions, encompassing custom hardware and software. Responsibilities include analyzing ML workloads, exploring design spaces, mapping user experiences to hardware and software components, designing ML acceleration architecture, collaborating with algorithm owners on hardware-oriented networks, and delivering comprehensive architecture specifications and analyses. The goal is to enable Google-only on-device experiences for users. This requires expertise in machine learning, multimedia technologies, silicon engineering (computer architecture, DSP circuits, VLSI, RTL), and ideally experience with mobile cameras and computational photography.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 3+ years in ML or multimedia
  • Experience in silicon engineering (architecture, DSP, VLSI, RTL)
  • Design ML acceleration architecture
  • Collaborate with algorithm owners
  • Deliver comprehensive architecture specifications
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in relevant field
  • 5+ years SoC/Hardware experience
  • Mobile camera/computational photography experience
  • ML hardware architecture design expertise
  • Familiarity with ML and image/video processing algorithms

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in machine learning or multimedia technologies.
  • Experience in architecture or silicon engineering such as computer architecture, Digital Signal Processor (DSP) circuits, Very-Large-Scale Integration (VLSI), Register-Transfer Level (RTL).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Phd in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with an emphasis on computer architecture.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in the SoC or Hardware industry.
  • Experience in mobile cameras, computational photography techniques, depth sensing cameras and others.
  • Experience in Machine Learning (ML) hardware architecture and computer hardware architecture design.
  • Familiarity in machine learning and image, video, display processing algorithms for mobile photography applications.

About the job

Be part of a diverse team that pushes boundaries, developing custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. You'll contribute to the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration.

In this role, you will develop system architectures with hardware acceleration for Machine Learning (ML) in multimedia use cases. You will work with research, algorithm, product managers, hardware, software or System-on-a-Chip (SOC) architecture, and implementation teams to define the end-to-end Machine Learning (ML) acceleration solution, the solution space will include custom hardware and software, and the solution will have the entire technology stack considered. Overall, you will play a critical role in enabling Google-only on-device experiences to the users.

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.
