The Network Engineer develops, maintains, and supports data center and cloud network Infrastructure. In this role, we provide network support including operation, release management and request fulfillment for network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
Operate and support global network and related security services and will resolve system and network issues and outages.
This will involve maintenance and administration of all production network equipment.
This position will directly engage with the site reliability teams and with internal customers.
May be preparing network diagrams and maintaining equipment lists using automation where possible to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Should be able to communicate well with vendors and partners to build relationships as you work through technical scenarios.
This role will work as a supporting team member and exercise reasonable judgment while providing clear documentation of activities and accomplishments.
One of the major themes we are focusing on involves network automation and orchestration to increase speed and preserve consistency in our network connectivity solutions.
This could involve automation of network circuit provisioning, switch baselines, routing protocol convergence improvements and network overlay technologies.
Can configure enterprise or service provider grade network hardware with some assistance.
Ability to review and improve processes and procedures.
Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering field or related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience
1 year of experience in network engineering.
Basic skills in routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, MPBGP, ISIS, MPLS).
General understanding of physical and virtual network technologies and how they interoperate.
Basic knowledge of models used to show network state and for configuration (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, IPFIX, Netconf, Restconf, gRPC).
Able to configure, operate, and automate cloud IaaS networks with minimal assistance (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Has basic understanding in at least one software development language (e.g., Python, Java).
Experience reviewing system configuration settings/policies.
Experience working in operational environments following ITIL, industry standards, frameworks, and reference architectures.
Excellent troubleshooting skills (technical and non-technical).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multi-task and handle competing and conflicting priorities.
Ability to work overtime to include nights and weekends.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CCNP, AWS Foundational). Professional-level certifications a plus.
Software defined network experience.
Network scripting background using languages such as Python and JavaScript.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
