The Onsite System Manager is an in-person position dedicated to State and Local government customers in DuPage County, IL. This role involves maintaining, optimizing, testing, and supporting complex communication systems, specifically Motorola Land Mobile Radio Products. Responsibilities include daily maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and customer training, ensuring proper system operation and serving as the main point-of-contact for equipment support. The manager will also handle provisioning infrastructure and developing solutions to technical problems.
Must have:
  • Maintain, optimize, test, document, and support complex communication systems.
  • Focus on Motorola Land Mobile Radio Products, including consoles, subscriber radios, and infrastructure.
  • Perform daily maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and customer training.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance routines and document results.
  • Maintain server hardware/OS and software infrastructure, troubleshoot issues.
  • Serve as the main point-of-contact for DuPage County's equipment support.
  • Handle provisioning of communication system infrastructure.
  • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems.
  • Team with Engineering, Project Management, Customer Support, and Sales.
  • Provide weekly activity reports.
  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of wired communications systems (LAN, WAN).
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications, and networking equipment.
  • Computer literate with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and present a professional image.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance.
  • Must be able to provide customer training on infrastructure and equipment.
  • Reside near/within DuPage County for 24/7 rotation support.
  • 2+ years of experience in LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking Equipment, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or Military experience.

Job Details

The Onsite System Manager is an in person position dedicated to the State and Local government customer located in DuPage County, IL. The Onsite System Manager MUST reside near/within DuPage County to be available for 24/7 rotation of support 365 days of the year.

  • Maintain, optimize, test, document, support complex communication systems, specifically focusing on Motorola Land Mobile Radio Products, including consoles, subscriber radios, and infrastructure. This involves daily maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and customer training.
  • Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results.
  • Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
  • Serve as the main point-of-contact for support related to DuPage County's equipment.
  • Handle the provisioning of communication system infrastructure.
  • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues
  • Team with Engineering, Project Management, Customer Support, and Sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments
  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
  • Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Security +, CompTIA or related certificate is highly desirable

Travel/Location

  • This Chicagoland (DuPage County) based role requires the successful candidate to either reside in the area or be willing to relocate.
  • Travel up to 10% for training and customer support.

Basic Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking Equipment, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or Military experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
