Responsible for providing production services in general audiovisual work and worship services. Responsible for general AV work, but with a special emphasis on audio production and engineering. We have this position to accommodate audio systems operation and maintenance for HPUMC. The Part-time Audio Engineer helps oversee the production of worship services, special events, and video shoots, with an emphasis in our contemporary venues and studio space.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Campus: Mockingbird

Working Hours: This is a part-time position that will work an anticipated 22 hours per week.

Anticipated Schedule: Wednesday, 1 – 9 pm; Thursday 9 am – 5 pm; Sunday 6:30 am – 1 pm

Event support hours vary greatly and during certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter.

Job Responsibilities And Duties

  • Set up and operate audio/video/lighting equipment for weekly worship services and for classes and special events as assigned by the Production Managers, Associate Director of Production, and Director of Creative, Communications, & Production.
  • Participate in the research, procurement, installation, maintenance and inventory of all equipment needed by the department, including but not limited to microphones, cabling, consoles, cameras, computers, switching gear and lighting controls, and instruments, and various media.
  • Assist in assessing and coordinating media needs for worship services, events, additional video shoots, music, and other personnel to best meet their needs.
  • Prepare worship venues for services and events, setting up equipment and tearing down and storing afterward.
  • Assist filmmakers during shoots for audio/video support and post-production mixing needs.
  • Ensure safety in setup and operation of all equipment/configurations, and secure all rooms after events.
  • Provide professional support of HPUMC systems and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education And Desired Skills

Education and/or Experience: Engineering degree helpful, but not required. Formal education (college or trade/tech school) in media operations is required plus at least two years of intensive experience. Will consider candidates with no formal education who have five or more years of intensive experience and on-the-job training. Experience in all aspects of the job is strongly preferred.

Language/Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical and general business materials; to write instructions, reports and correspondence; to effectively present information and instructions verbally and respond to questions from individuals and groups either with or without technical knowledge.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced concepts and operations as demanded by each situation and equipment configuration.

Computer Skills: As demanded by equipment and configurations.

Other Skills and Abilities: Must have good interpersonal and communication skills to deal with users, volunteers, co-workers, and contractors. Strong organizational abilities are required.

Other Qualifications: Must be comfortable working in a church environment and exhibit an appropriate demeanor.

Preferred Software Experience

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • G Suite (Google, Gmail, Calendar, etc…)
  • Misc DAW software experience. Digital audio console software
  • Dante systems level 1 certification, level 2 preferred
