DNEG's Production Technology department seeks an Assistant Pipeline Developer for a 2.5-month contract (April-mid June 2025). Responsibilities include maintaining existing pipeline tools for artist, editorial, and production workflows; contributing to testing and feedback on R&D software releases; assisting in the design and development of Python tools; and producing documentation. This role offers the potential to progress within DNEG's Pipeline group, specializing as a Pipeline TD or advancing to a supervisory role, or transitioning into software development within the R&D team. The position requires experience with Linux, strong Python scripting skills, and MySQL. Experience with version control and team development tasks is also essential.

Le département de la Technologie de Production chez DNEG est responsable de la création et du soutien des outils et technologies de pointe utilisés par nos artistes pour relever des défis de plus en plus complexes et créatifs dans la production d'effets visuels primés et d'animations de longs-métrages pour le cinéma et la télévision.
En tant qu'Assistant Développeur Pipeline, vous effectuerez diverses tâches pour aider l'équipe Pipeline à assurer le bon fonctionnement des outils, logiciels et flux de travail utilisés par le département de Conversion Stéréoscopique chez DNEG.
 

Vous serez amené à :

  • Maintenir les outils Pipeline existants pour les flux de travail des artistes, de l'édition et de la production.
  • Contribuer aux tests et aux retours sur les versions logicielles de l'équipe R&D.
  • Assister à la conception et au développement d'outils Python pour les productions en cours.
  • Produire de la documentation pour les outils et les flux de travail.
Avec une grande équipe expérimentée autour de vous pour vous soutenir dans votre développement, ce rôle offre l'opportunité de progresser au sein du groupe Pipeline de DNEG, en vous concentrant sur un domaine spécifique en tant que Pipeline TD et en accédant à un rôle de supervision en tant que Pipeline Supervisor, ou bien pourrait constituer un tremplin vers le développement logiciel au sein de notre équipe R&D.

Compétences requises :

  • Un diplôme en informatique, en graphisme informatique ou dans un domaine connexe, ou une expérience professionnelle antérieure dans les effets visuels, les jeux vidéo ou un autre secteur connexe.
  • Expérience avec Linux.
  • Compétences solides en scripting Python.
  • Expérience avec MySQL.
  • Excellente communication avec une variété de parties prenantes/collègues.
  • Capacité à planifier et organiser votre propre charge de travail, et à travailler efficacement dans un environnement de production rapide.
  • Une expérience avec les systèmes de contrôle de version et les tâches de développement en équipe.

Veuillez noter qu’il s’agit d’un poste syndiqué qui sera couvert par une convention collective entre DNEG et l’IATSE dans les mois à venir. En tant qu’employé syndiqué, vous devrez adhérer au syndicat et bénéficierez des conditions établies dans la convention collective. Des cotisations syndicales seront exigées une fois la convention collective en place.


 This is a short-term contract, running from now until mid-June 2025. 

The Production Technology department at DNEG is responsible for creating and supporting the pioneering tools and technology used by our artists to tackle increasingly complex and creative challenges in the production of industry leading, award winning visual effects and feature animation for Film and Television.
As an Assistant Pipeline Developer you will perform a variety of tasks to assist the Pipeline team ensure the smooth running of the tools, software and workflows used by the Stereo Conversion department at DNEG. 

You will be required to:

  • Maintain existing Pipeline tools for artist, editorial and production workflows..
  • Contribute to testing and feedback for software releases from the R&D team.
  • Assist with the design and development of Python tools for active productions.
  • Produce documentation for tools and workflows
With a large and experienced team around you to support you in your development, this role has the opportunity to progress through the DNEG Pipeline group, focusing on a dedicated area of specialism as a Pipeline TD and into a leadership role as Pipeline Supervisor, or could be a route into software development in our R&D team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your technical skills in a complex environment and be a part of one of the largest teams in the industry. 

Must have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics or related field or previous work experience in visual effects, games or another related industry..
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Strong Python scripting skills.
  • MySQL experience
  • Strong communicator across a variety of stakeholders/colleagues. 
  • An ability to plan and organise your own workload, and can work effectively in a fast paced production environment.
  • Some experience with source control systems and development tasks as part of a team.

Please note that this is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE, in the coming months. As a unionized employee, you will be required to join the union and will benefit from the conditions set out in the collective agreement. Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place.
