Job Description

As a Policy Research Intern, you will collaborate with the Government and Academic Affairs Team to research the latest science policy developments and trends, analyze and compile information into summaries or reports, and support survey-type projects. Your key responsibilities include staying updated on developments in China's science, technology, and legislative landscape, analyzing implications of changes, synthesizing complex information, and supporting project execution. You will be expected to work semi-independently and as part of a team.
Must have:
  • Currently pursuing a Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field
  • Knowledge or keen interest in academic publishing and global landscapes
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese
  • Skillful in data processing and presentation applications

About the role 
As the Policy Research Intern, you will work closely with the Government and Academic Affairs Team to conduct research of the latest science policy developments and trends, analyze and compile the information into summaries or reports, as well as support the delivery of survey-type projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research and keep abreast of the latest developments and trends in China’s S&T, economic and legislative landscape, especially with relevance to the publishing industry.
  • Analyze and make evidence-based predictions on the implications of changes and new developments, including new technologies and social trends.
  • Synthesize complex information into accessible, clear, and concise summaries for internal communication. Support the preparation and polish of reports, presentations, or whitepapers according to assignments and instructions.
  • Support the planning and execution of survey-type projects and engage with the community, experts, or stakeholders to gather insights and perspectives.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as but not limited to Library and Information Science, Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy.
  • Knowledge or keen interest in academic publishing and global S&T, economic and geopolitical landscape.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to critically evaluate information from diverse sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Skillful in data processing and presentation applications such as Microsoft suites.
  • Ability to work semi-independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and self-motivated attitude.
