Job Description

The President of Nasdaq Clearing (CCP) will lead the clearing management, risk, and operations in a highly regulated environment. This includes overseeing stakeholders, handling day-to-day administration, ensuring financial reporting, and managing relationships with regulatory authorities. The role requires driving business development, innovation, and collaborating with various business units and members. The person will have executive responsibility for clearing management, risk and operations. They will also lead the relationship towards regulatory authorities, mainly the Swedish FSA and Swedish Central Bank.
Must have:
  • Leadership and management experience in Clearing and Risk.
  • Deep understanding of Clearing, Risk Management, and regulations.
  • Experience in Equity Derivatives and Fixed Income clearing.
  • Strong drive to modernize and drive innovation.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • University degree in Economics or related field.
  • Fluent in Swedish and English.
  • Swedish citizenship

Nasdaq’s CCP has a unique offering of clearing services across multiple asset classes, primarily in Nordic derivatives, available to international and regional members and investors. Our clearing model includes risk management to the highest standards, a wide collateral list, integrated clearing of exchange-traded instruments as well as an OTC offering in multiple currencies. Nasdaq Clearing’s strategic plan is to build a preeminent European CCP by focusing on the core business, seizing opportunities through diversification across the value chain, and being a motivator for economic growth built on a foundation of technology, innovation, and sustainability. The CCP will continue to extend its business across the European landscape with a firm anchoring in the Nordic markets. 

Your role and responsibilities  

As the President of Nasdaq CCP, you will play a critical role to drive and develop the business in a highly regulated environment. You will have executive responsibility  for clearing management, risk and operations. Nasdaq Clearing is part of Roland Chai’s European Market Services. You and your team are responsible for running Nasdaq’s derivatives CCP in the Nordics.

The organization is characterized as a team with extensive expertise within the Clearing area with broad and vast proficiencies, skills, and experiences, which requires a strategic and supportive leader. In addition, the role requires solid and robust leadership, focusing on Risk Management and Compliance, but also, the ability, energy, and the initiative to drive business development and innovation. It is also crucial to collaborate with other business units and our Clearing members to be successful in this role.  

You will work closely with the Exchange, Product management teams and support their business initiatives, and other relevant forums. You will have a significant impact on our journey to rewrite tomorrow where we use our expertise, integrity and resilience as foundations to help us drive and innovate the business forward.  You will step into an exciting phase of our journey where we are expecting you to demonstrate the extended resilience and robustness we have in the organization. Your role will include responsibilities, such as:  

  • Lead Nasdaq CCP's operations and, subject to supervision by the Board of Directors, lead an organization which is appropriate for the operations 
  • Supervise the company’s stakeholders, whether directly or indirectly 
  • Handle day-to-day administration and take vital measures for the maintenance of operations. In such context, the President will supervise the operations in the respective companies within Nasdaq Clearing and provide instructions for the management of such companies  
  • Ensure regular financial reporting to the Board of Directors
  • Lead, together with the Chief Compliance Officer, the relationship towards regulatory authorities, mainly the Swedish FSA and Swedish Central Bank 

What you will bring: 

  • Passion, backed by leadership- and management experience in driving Clearing and Risk efficiency through navigating a complex regulated environment, championing organizational understanding and prioritization, and an ability to steer several initiatives and projects simultaneously  
  • Experience from the Financial Industry, with a deep understanding of Clearing, Risk Management, and regulatory expectations 
  • Experience of Equity Derivatives and Fixed Income clearing
  • A strong inner drive to continuously modernize, implement and evangelize to drive innovation with an ambition to grow the business 
  • Excellent leadership, integrity, communication, and organizational skills as you will build global relationships with executives, leaders, and engineers across geographies, time zones, and cultures 
  • University degree in Economics or related field 
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience 
  • Fluent in Swedish and English
  • Swedish citizenship

Meriting for this position is experience within Operations and/or IT and Tech.

This is a full-time position based in Stockholm. Applicants must hold Swedish citizenship/passport to be eligible for this role, and all applications must be submitted in English. The role requires a security clearance (Säkerhetsprövning), the final candidate will therefore need to pass security authorization in addition to background check before an offer is extended.
