The role involves using various software and plug-ins, and utilizing Solibri for clash detection. The candidate will work on projects in multiple sectors, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary UK Buildings Team. Responsibilities include measurements from existing drawings, reporting to the manager, and ensuring compliance with standards.
Must have:
  • Diploma/ Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 to 8 years of professional experience
  • Experience in Microstation Connect/Open Buildings
  • Experience with ProjectWise CDE
  • Knowledge of BIM workflows and QA
Good to have:
  • Working knowledge of Solibri/Inventor/Vault
  • Experience in UK standards & regulations

As our new Principal Designer – BIM - Building Services you will be part of a world-class, innovation-driven engineering design center owned by an independent trust and its employees. REC is a highly sophisticated center of engineering excellence and based in our India head office in Gurgaon. Working in partnership with all our established offices globally, the Ramboll Engineering Centre (REC) is a center for design excellence offering optimized solutions to the rest of the organization

You will become part of our REC UK buildings team, collaborating with a close-knit team of building services engineers both in the UK and India, specialising in the design of electrical building services installations.

In your role, you will work across multiple sectors – from world class commercial developments and cutting-edge healthcare projects to landmark tall buildings, you will contribute to projects which make a difference. Based out of one of the regional offices, travel will be expected on occasion to fulfil the needs of the projects you will be working on.  You will be collaborating with a multi-disciplinary UK Buildings Team including other disciplines including electrical & mechanical engineers, building physicists, structural engineers, façade and acoustic engineers. Your project teams may be as large as 30 people or as intimate as 2 or 3, but all will focus on efficient, effective project delivery. 

Position Summary:

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Modelling of building services systems, including Mechanical, public health installations in Microstation Connect and Open Buildings Designer (OBD).
  • Measurements (area of floors, windows and facades of buildings) from existing PDF/ CAD-drawings and/or 3D Microstation/ OBD models
  • Coordinate across disciplines, including building services, structural and architectural.
  • Report to the manager/engineer in charge and perform work task assigned.
  • Monitor/checking digital models and generate clash detection reports
  • Model/ BIM Management
  • Digitalization using different software & plug in i.e., Grasshopper, Rhino, Dynamo etc.
  • Use of Solibri clash detection software to inform design team of model clashes

About you

For this role we have identified some qualifications, skills, and capabilities that will set you up for success.

  • Must possess with minimum 5 to 8 years of professional experience as BIM modeler/Engineer.
  • Documented experience in Microstation Connect and Open Buildings Designer for both 2D drawing production and 3D modelling.
  • Experience working within a ProjectWise Common Data Environment (CDE) for efficient ecosystem management.
  • Understanding of CADQA standards with ability to ensure all drawings and models meet compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and quality assurance processes.
  • Must possess the ability to develop complex drawings with minimal guidance from other senior staff.
  • Must have attention to detail and take pride in their own work and work of others within the team
  • Should have experience in working in UK with knowledge of regional standards & regulations.
  • Should be passionate about engineering with an attitude of absolute intolerance for non-compliance in relation to people safety, environment or product quality.
  • Should have flexible attitude, in an environment with frequently changing deadlines and can be relied on to meet deadlines.
  • Should be committed to both their work and personal development, with a willingness to widen their experience and knowledge base.
  • Must possess professional English language skills (written and verbal).
  • Should be able to communicate clearly with team members.
  • Should be able to work in a team and support, mentor and develop junior technician.

Qualifications

Qualification - Diploma/ Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering.
