General Purpose:
We are looking for a seasoned Principal Audio Development Engineer to lead the development of cutting-edge audio technologies that elevate the immersive experience for gamers. In this pivotal role, you will architect and build the next generation of gaming headsets, speaker systems, and embedded audio platforms. Your deep technical expertise and passion for gaming audio will help shape how players hear, communicate, and react in high-performance environments.
Position Summary, Responsibilities and Expectations:
•Lead End-to-End Audio Development: Oversee the design and implementation of audio hardware and software across high-end gaming headsets, speakers, and voice communication devices.
•Architect DSP Pipelines: Design real-time digital signal processing chains for gaming-specific use cases like positional 3D audio, chat/game mix, and environmental awareness modes.
•Game Audio Optimization: Collaborate with game developers, sound designers, and middleware teams (e.g., Wwise, FMOD) to optimize in-game audio integration and headset tuning.
•Voice Processing & Communication: Engineer crystal-clear mic paths and features such as AI-based noise suppression, echo cancellation, and beamforming to enhance team communication.
•Cross-Platform Integration: Ensure seamless audio experiences across PC, console, and mobile gaming platforms.
•User-Centric Testing: Conduct both technical measurements (e.g., frequency response, latency, THD) and user-driven listening tests to refine audio profiles for gaming environments.
•Mentorship & Strategy: Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the long-term audio roadmap with a focus on competitive and immersive gameplay.
Essential Skills and Experience:
•Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, Acoustics, or a related discipline.
•10+ years of experience in audio hardware/software development, with at least 3 years focused on gaming or consumer audio products.
•In-depth knowledge of spatial audio, HRTFs, surround sound virtualization, and 3D audio rendering.
•Experience with acoustical testing, tuning environments (e.g., Audio Precision, Brüel & Kjær), and simulation tools.
•Strong understanding of gaming environments and competitive player audio expectations (e.g., low-latency positional cues).
•Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative mindset.
•English and Chinese in spoken and written is a MUST.
