Summary

Assystem is seeking an Experienced Electrical Engineer to join their Design Authority team near Helensburgh. This role involves specifying, producing, and assessing design packages for infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and operational constraints of electrical infrastructure systems. You will also evaluate infrastructure design and assess work control procedures for maintenance. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in electrical engineering, expertise in HV/MV distribution, LV distribution, protection systems, C&I systems, and electrical machines. Experience in the nuclear or other high-hazard industries is preferred. The role requires strong knowledge of British and international design standards, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage and prioritize workloads.
Must have:
  • Broad experience in electrical engineering
  • Expertise in HV/MV distribution, LV distribution, protection systems, C&I systems, and electrical machines
  • Experience in the nuclear or other high-hazard industries
  • Strong knowledge of British and international design standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good to have:
  • Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience and standing

Job Description

Your Mission:

We are seeking an Experienced Electrical Engineer to bolster the technical capabilities of one of our major client's Design Authority (DA) near Helensburgh. This role is ideal for candidates with Electrical Design experience, but those with backgrounds in Electrical Installation or Maintenance are also encouraged to apply.

📌 Key Responsibilities:

  • 🛠️ Deliver technical excellence in specifying, producing, and assessing design packages for infrastructure.
  • ⚡ Specify reliability and operational constraints for electrical infrastructure systems.
  • 📋 Assess work control procedures for infrastructure maintenance.
  • 🏗️ Evaluate infrastructure design, material state, and ageing mechanisms to ensure continuous operation of facilities and utilities.
  • 🛡️ Promote a strong safety and security culture across all activities.
  • 🤝 Ensure safety-related contracts meet all requirements by acting as an intelligent customer.

🔑 Position Requirements:

Essential:

  • ⚡ Broad experience in electrical engineering, with expertise in HV/MV distribution, LV distribution, protection systems, C&I systems, electrical machines (synchronous motors, frequency changers, diesel alternators).
  • ⚛️ Experience in the nuclear or other high-hazard industries (preferred but not essential).
  • 💡 Ability to create practical, creative, and cost-effective solutions for design modifications of plant and infrastructure.
  • 📘 Strong knowledge of British and international design standards.
  • 🧠 Proven track record of making evidence-based decisions using various data sources.
  • 🗣️ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • ⏳ Ability to effectively manage and prioritize workload.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • HNC or equivalent qualifications and experience in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Detailed knowledge of the Design Intent for Electrical Infrastructure in the nuclear industry or similar industry

Desirable:

  • Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience and standing
  • Degree or equivalent qualifications and experience in a relevant engineering discipline
