The key purpose of the role is to ensure games follow excellent architectural and engineering principles and are fit for purpose. The Principal Software Engineer will help build the next generation of our gaming products. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the detailed design and the day-to-day running of a software development team. The role requires proven experience in planning, specifying, developing and deploying high performance, robust and resilient gaming workflow systems. You will be an integral part of the OZ Software Team, developing and maintaining best practices, technical leadership and coaching to drive high performance within OZ Games Studio and across software within D&D India.
What You'll Do
- As a Principal Software Engineer you will bring considerable technical and functional expertise to deliver effective formulation and implementation of Software design, testing strategies and software quality assurance strategy
- Provide technical leadership to the Software Engineering team
- Develop system libraries, modules, and applications for Aristocrat product suite
- Build and design software following standard design patterns
- Communicate progress and escalate issues to management in a timely manner
- Deliver software components to enable gaming products
- Design and develop high-volume, high-performance, high-availability games using proven C++. C#, Java frameworks and technologies
- Ensure consistent use of shared platform components and technologies
- Design and develop reusable libraries and APIs for use across Aristocrat
- Write unit and integration tests, within automated test environments to ensure code quality
- Assist in defining the team's technical strategy and roadmaps
- Write concise yet comprehensive technical documentation
- Responsible for work quality, ensuring it meets the software technical standards for all products
- Ensure appropriate response to defects and manage communications between stakeholders.
- Cascade business expectations around Aristocrat wide D&D initiatives and ensure line of slight is maintained throughout the entire software development process for all key stakeholders.
- Lead/Contribute to the maintenance, improvement, introduction of software testing and quality assurance best practices, automation, processes and tools including items such as coding standards, code reviews, requirements analysis, gap analysis, test automation
What We're Looking For
- B.Tech Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 12+ years of experience in software development
- Strong experience using C++ to develop embedded applications
- Experience in C# .NET, Silverlight, Macromedia Flash, Unity, OpenGL, DirectX or other 3D engine frameworks highly favourable.
- Should have used one or more unit test framework
- Experience in implementing any automation framework is highly desirable.
- Good knowledge of any scripting language
- Should have experience of working in continuous build, integration and test environment.
- Prior experience of testing/validating SDK will be a big plus.
- Experience in using Source control systems and Microsoft Office Suite
