Your Team

As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will develop and verify performance of system-of-system (SoS) level features among multiple hardware devices and digital applications within the Infusion Systems portfolio. Your contributions will ensure our products are delivering maximum benefit to the customer and patients that rely on them. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical capabilities, think at a systems level, enjoy cross-functional teamwork, and demonstrate passion for their work and the impact it has on saving and sustaining the lives of patients.

What you'll be doing
  • Defines SoS requirements and specifications based on customer or user requirements.
  • Ensures SoS requirements are properly decomposed to systems and that all interfaces are captured appropriately.
  • Contributes to development and documentation of system architectures.
  • Drives risk management activities including Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (FMEA) and Safety Assurance Case (SAC) to ensure safety and effectiveness of designs.
  • Ensures designs meet compliance objectives related to medical devices (such as IEC 60601) through proper design, test, and reporting of results.
  • Defines appropriate test and verification methods to verify designs meet their performance requirements and assesses results for application, validity, and conformance to specifications.
  • Leads the troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts related to SoS level issues to identify root cause and recommend design solutions.
  • Resolves competing constraints between interrelated functions (engineering, manufacturing, regulatory, marketing, etc.) required to deliver the product to market.
  • Develops and maintains an effective and corroborative working relationship with internal and external development partners.
  • Manages time and resources to meet committed schedule milestones.

What you'll bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 5+ years of related experience.
  • A demonstrated track record in electro-mechanical system development and verification.
  • Strong organization and communication skills, with the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical personnel throughout the organization.
  • Familiarity with risk management processes and designing to compliance standards is preferred.
  • Experience with systems engineering as applied to System of Systems applications is preferred.
  • Familiarity with requirements, test, configuration management, and issue management tools such as DOORS, HP ALM, TCU, and/or JIRA is preferred.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies is preferred.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $96,000 to $132,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
