About the job

Join our new project focused on creating in-game cinematics for a game in Unreal Engine 5. Collaborate with VFX industry veterans to bring high-quality, real-time animation to life. This is a temporary role with the potential to become permanent based on performance and project needs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Scene Conversion: Convert game scenes to cinematics, ensuring seamless integration and high-quality visuals. Work with the team lead to set priorities
  • Tool Troubleshooting: Ensure tools function as intended, providing technical support to the team. Work with and support the animation team
  • Profiling and Optimization: Profile CPU and GPU performance using Unreal Insights and Unreal Engine stats commands, identifying and resolving issues to maintain 60 FPS on desktop PCs
  • Unreal Engine Troubleshooting: Address and resolve technical issues within Unreal Engine 5
  • Real-Time Lighting: Ensure real-time lighting in Unreal Engine is optimized for performance
  • Real-Time VFX: Ensure real-time VFX in Unreal Engine, using tools like Niagara, are optimized for performance
  • Team Education: Educate the team on creating real-time content to maintain high FPS, providing guidance and best practices.
  • Performance Reviews: Regularly review profiling results, providing actionable feedback to the team
  • Tool Development: Develop tools to enhance the workflow and productivity of the team using Python and Blueprint, and potentially C++

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Extensive experience with Unreal Engine 5, including profiling and optimization
  • Strong knowledge of CPU and GPU performance profiling
  • Proficiency with Unreal Insights and Unreal Engine stats commands
  • Experience in converting game scenes to cinematics
  • Strong understanding of real-time lighting and VFX optimization, including Niagara
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in Unreal Engine
  • Ability to educate and mentor artists on real-time content creation.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Python and Blueprint for tool development
  • Strong portfolio showcasing technical skills and creative vision
  • Advanced skills in coding and optimizing shaders and scenes
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for pushing the boundaries of real-time content creation

Bonus Requirements:

  • Knowledge of C++
  • Familiarity with Houdini and other VFX tools.

Salary Range:

  • $48 - $70 per hour
